For model XP10000E. I've had this generator for years and seldom use it.

Just a tip, if you will not be using yours for a long period shut off the gas & remove the screw located of the bottom of the carburetor to allow the remaining gasoline in the carburetor to drain out. This will prevent gunk from building up in the carburetor and allow you to start it up easily the next time.

I also recommend adding Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer to your tank.

This generator is awesome!!! It powered my entire house!

Manual is very good, no issues with assembly or startup (ran both Propane and Gas)

I turned on the following without any issues :
    Tv’s (70”,75”,32”,60” 55”)
Xbox, play station and modem /router
DVR and surround sound for 2 TV’s
All the lights in the house (2 full chandeliers,1 small chandelier,18 lights)
2 full size Refrigerators and 1 small refrigerator
    1 freezer small
1 midsize microwave (I tested it running with it at 1 minute)
1 electric stove (using only 2 burners)
2 Mitsubishi Central Ac/Heat units (ran the heat due to it is February😊)
    Hot water furnace

You would not have all that on at once so I know this generator will handle what I need without an issue for as long as I need. The running wattage with all this on was at 10200…..

(T)otal (H)armonic (D)istortion. If you don't know about THD - look it up and learn how it may effect electronic equipment.
THD is poor but you can help mitigate by putting your equipment behind appropriately sized UPS.
Haven't need tech support so I can't rate them.

This unit is heavy so don't expect your wife to move it around a lot.

Also the propane regulator froze while testing. Letting it thaw cured the prob. Just Glad it wasn't too cold outside ~ 50f.
Later I found the attachment from hose to the regulator was cracked and while packing it to send in for a replacement broke off entirely. Regulator is cheap China cast aluminum.
Rather than arguing with DuroMax I just bought a new one that seems a little better made.
BTW sadly they all seem to be made in China.

When I put it together, I was skeptical when I arrived at an instruction to flip the entire generator upside down. It is VERY heavy and I thought "this is going to bend something". It had no oil and gas in it yet, so I did it and realized how tough this generator is. It was well protected. The instructions were for removing steel pieces that were added only for protection during shipping. The paint job really impressed me. I'm not sure if this is powder baked paint or liquid paint, but the job they did was perfect. I added oil and some gas and it started right up with the auto start button. I was also impressed that the provide a grounding nut and warn you to ground the unit. I've never seen that on any other generator but I'm going to use it. No need to get shocked. They've obviously recognized some danger and added that. Good for them. This seem like a great generator, especially for the price/power combination. I recommend.

Purchased as a backup power supply for a new home that is equipped with a 50-amp external outlet. This generator was very carefully boxed, has not only a 30a but also a 50a power outlet. While I have not yet used it in an emergency situation, I have test drove the unit. Excellently packed, and equally engineered, the generator started on it's first pull. All AC & DC voltages were exact and readily accessible. Thanks to built-in vibration-reducing engine mounts (rubber blocks), generator housing vibration is held to a min. Operating noise level is comparable to similar, but below what was expected for this appliance.

I unboxed and did the 5 minutes of assembly required and it was ready to go. The build quality seems to be very good, the machine is solid and the panel quality is very good. I hooked it up to a propane bottle and it fired right up. Although I didn't put a sound meter on it, I can tell you that it's quieter than my 6200 Robin powered generator. The electric start fired off right away and starts the engine quickly. I'm keeping it in a small shed I made for it and one thing i really like is the idle control - this allows the generator to idle down when load is removed, this makes it much quieter when starting or when there is no load. I wired in a 50amp inlet box to the house breaker panel with an interlock so this could run the house without pulling out 20 extension cords. Testing the generator went just as well as starting it. I plugged the generator into the inlet box, cut off the utility power main breaker, cut on the generator breaker and started the generator. Once the generator started I turned on the power at the front panel and the entire house came back to life. After bring up the house it was time to start the central air which it did without any issue. I have 2 central units but only turned on the 4 ton unit, this should do in a pinch! We live in Houston, so it's only a matter of time before the next hurricane takes the power out for days, I'll update this review after the generator spends a few days running the house. I am quite happy with what this generator can do for the money!

Amazon did a great job with delivery. This generator is heavy and I am glad the truck had a lift gate. It took some assembly to install the feet, wheels and handles. Once installed it is easy to move around. The generator says to use 30 weight oil but the book says 10w-30 is acceptable to use. I put in some 10w-30 and attached my propane tank and pressed the start button and it fired right up. The engine running is a little quieter than a lawn mower but not much.

I finally broke down and purchased a generator after a snow storm that left us without power for 5 days. I came to the realization that I'm a high maintenance woman after I couldn't flush the toilet for 5 days.

PROS: This is a dual fuel system. If our whole town is without power, I can still use propane, since the gas stations can't pump without electricity. Our local hardware store always has Blue Rhino tanks. (And yes, our town has been completely without power as well so this isn't a stretch.)

This was powerful enough to run the whole house. It ran the forced hot air furnace, well pump, two refrigerators, tv, and lights. I did not try the oven, but had faith that it would have.

It is portable, so when I'm done using it, I roll it back into the basement and do not have to worry about protecting it from the elements.

CONS: So far the only negative I can say is that it is Heavy.

Since we purchased this AFTER our outage, it hasn't really had an opportunity to be put through it's paces. We only tested it for about an hour. However, it does seem to be a quality machine and ran my whole house. I will try to update after the next outage.

UPDATE: Used for two days during a power outage. Absolutely no issues. Ran like a gem and we were comfortable.

Used on propane for the first use and it fired up after a few seconds and ran smoothly. Mine came with the new propane regulator that does not require purging. Due to the conflicting information in the manual and additional pages I called Duromax support a couple of times. Each time I got quick and correct information. They said they will be updating the manual soon, which they need to do.
They also need to provide better tires. These are cheap plastic tires that don't hold their shape. Mine developed a flat spot after only sitting for a day. Everything else on the generator is good quality, lots of features but a shame to supply cheap, unuseable wheels. Otherwise, highly recommend. Here's a couple of tips:
    1. Don't bother with the supplied wheels. Get pneumatic tires. It will roll much easier. I got the RamPro 10 inch wheels and the fit perfectly.
    2. Be sure to remove the braces (the wood and red metal ones), THEN add oil and hook up the battery before first use. You will probably need to remove the faceplate in front of the battery to get at the negative terminal to hook up the wire. Don't add the oil until you remove the braces or it will leak into the cylinder when you tip the unit.
    3. Don't overtighten the screws for the handles. Allow for easy movement.
    4. I also got a cover. I recommend the Classic Accessories StormPro RainProof Heavy Duty Generator Cover. Pricey but well made.

We just had the electrician put a plug by our home breaker box to be able to connect the generator directly in case the power goes off when the temps hits 8 degrees and it snows here in LOUISIANA this coming week. We had asked him to recommend something that would run the bottom floor of our three story home because the HVAC on the 2nd floor is electric and bottom floor is gas. We have a tankless hot water heater, separate freezer, mesh wifi system, commercial fridge., large ice maker, etc....MUCH to his surprise, the only thing this beast won't keep on would be our pool pump. It also ran for over an hour with 3/4 gallon of gas while he was testing it out. Hope we don't need it but will be glad we have it if we do. If someone whispers the word "ice" or "hurricane" down here....power goes out! The generator will spend most of its days under our house unless we need to roll it out and plug it in to the house panel. We intend to invest in a trickle charger for the battery so we don't have any unpleasant surprises with a dead battery.

We bought this three weeks before the bad February storm in Texas (we live north of DFW) and had yet to complete my installation when the storm hit. I wired it directly to my electrical panel through a 50 amp 240 breaker and turned the main off prior to turning the new breaker on (to protect the generator). At first I ran it off propane (BBQ size). We got three hours before the bottle froze at the 50% point. The time was used to get two refrigerators, two freezers, our 80 gallon water heater, a 800 watt space heater, some house lights and our tv/sat working. So at least an average of 75% for three hours on Propane. Then switched to gasoline. I tried to start our heater but we have a heat pump and it draws 60 amps to start. The generator tried its hardest and actually ran it for close to a full minute before the breaker tripped. The remaining 11 hours before the power came back on it ran on about one tank of gasoline and ran everything above and our electric range and oven.

The only problem we had was not actually the generators fault. Too many amps being pulled and tripping the breaker. We had the water heater come on while cooking and that tripped the breaker, the central air heater tripping the breaker, these are just more load than the generator is designed for. We ended up flipping the breaker for the water heater when we cooked and that took care of the problem.

Overall this seems to be a good running generator. I currently own six other generators of different sizes for my company and believe I will be replacing them all with the gas only version of this generator.

We bought this generator about two years ago, after Hurricane Sandy tore through our area and left us without power for 2 weeks. That had actually been the 3rd time in about 12 months that we had no power for a week or more. We had gotten our hands on a small generator sometime in the middle of those ordeals, but after Sandy the wife said "get the biggest one you can find!" Like others, I was a bit skeptical about this generator for a few reasons... the lesser-known brand (at least to me), the foreign origin, and simply - it seemed too inexpensive to be as good as it claimed! Boy am I glad that I put aside those concerns and just ordered it.

At the time we ordered it, the price was about $1100 - still well worth it in my opinion. It came via freight and the delivery company was very accommodating about working out a delivery time with us. It was very well packed. This is one seriously heavy item, but as long as you have a little space, you can wiggle it around to get it unpacked by yourself. I know a few other reviewers had theirs ship with a dead battery, but mine was ok. It was a little tricky to hook up actually, but I eventually got it connected. It comes with the feet and wheels separate, so you need to install them yourself. It's pretty easy, but a socket wrench set or racheting wrench set will come in handy. Mine appeared to be empty so I added oil before using it. There was no sign of any leaked oil inside the package like some others have reported.

To turn on the generator, you open the fuel valve, pull the choke, and turn the key. It's really pretty easy. There is also a pull starter if you are having battery issues. Once you turn it on, there's a circuit breaker to control whether the outlets are live or not. Our electrician advised me to connect the generator to the house first, then turn on the circuit breaker on the generator, then gradually turn on breakers inside the house after flipping the transfer switch to slowly ramp up the load. There is also an idle control switch - which looks like it was re-labelled "auto throttle" in the pictures here. It basically causes the generator to idle at a much lower (and quieter) speed when you turn it on. It's good for testing and other times when you don't need the noise. There is a pretty big variety of outlets on the panel too - 50A, two different 30A, and two 20A. There is also DC12v available. We use the 50A now when we hook it up to the house, but before we had the transfer switch installed we got plenty of juice out of the 20A with a few long extension cords.

With the 50A connection to our panel via a transfer switch, our electrician told us "this will pretty much run everything in your house". And it does - it'll run all the lights, TV's, computers, 2 fridges, microwave, coffee maker and yes - even the central air. Just for full disclosure - we have a gas stove, and I haven't had the nerve to run the washer/dryer on generator power. Also - we've not had to use it during a real heatwave yet, so I suppose the load from the AC was never at its peak. Still, there is no shortage of power coming out of this unit. Plus - I was surprised when I realized that this unit is considerably quieter than our previous much smaller generator! Don't get me wrong, it's still loud - they all are - but not the kind of loud I expected from something outputting this much power.

Two years later, it still runs great - starts every time with just a quick turn of the key, even after a long stretch. I try to make it a point to start it every few months to cycle out any old gas, and keep things loose. Once I ran it in the back yard for a few hours just to power my mitre saw and table saw while I built a small shed - it didn't even blink. I also found that under a medium load, it gets a very decent runtime out of a single tank of gas - in some cases up to 10 hours or more.

Hopefully this helps your decision if you're at all hesitant to try this brand. If what you want is a spectacular value for a very powerful portable generator, this absolutely fits the bill. I ordered the same unit for my in-laws who live across town and their experience has been just as good.

The negatives Arrived with dead battery
    Easy enough fix jump start
The fuel knob is confusing the off position looks like it’s on and the on looks like off
Guess they didn’t have room to put the label on the correct side.
But I’m really nit picking here. This is an awesome powerful generator easy to operate starts right away after charging battery and installing a battery maintainer.
I had the 12k previously and was so impressed with it in real life conditions during last Feb Texas freeze that I’m upgrading to the 15k
Will update once we go through real life use.

Gen is so powerful that it powers a whole 6 bedroom house. All gadgets, I mean My 7 set of 2.0hp air conditioners all functioned simultaneously, freezers and my 85inch Tv work at the same time. Mind you, I had them all on to find flaws in this gen but I was shocked.

I actually shipped it to Africa and that’s where it’s currently being used. It’s the best I’ve bought from Amazon in 2021.

Setup and initial startup was a breeze.
Using propane for now, I was able to power the full house.
Even started the AC (5ton) and the generator was able to take the startup peak and maintained the power.
    We are more than pleased.
    Highly recommended.

Just had the house wired up with an interlock. Ran a test with some lights on and the 90.000btu furnace blowing hot air and 2 refrigerators and the TV and it handled with 0 issues. Ran for about 4 hours before I decided im really happy with this generator. Was running on Propane because im not about to store 20+ gallons of gas in my garage. Really dont plan on running gas in it, might have it converted to natural gas and have a line set up on the patio for a grill too. Plenty of power but loud af. Heavy as can be too so if you are frail, find a spot and bolt it to the concrete with a sound proof cover(Zombiebox) like I'm about to do.

Was rather astonished to find the main breakers were sized at 30 amps with a quick trip at 43.8. What? That means the gen set can never achieve any surge as it will trip out at 10,512 (240 x 43.8) -- so you have a gen set advertised with 13,000 surge and it quick trips at 10,512 watts? WTH? I recommend this generator. Glad I purchased it. Here is something you should know and understand about the duel fuel function. I was initially attracted to the fact that I could use propane with this generator because when the power goes out, I have easier access to propane than I do gas. The problem with propane, as I have recently discovered, is that with the liquid freezes up and I can only effectively use half the propane tank. Basically I can only run the generator for about 2 -3 hours. The problem amplifies when it's cold outside. I have it running on gas and it goes hours without and burps or sputters.

Price increased twice while I was thinking about buying, so I locked in at at $1299 and had it in just a couple days with Prime. Packaged well, this was my first Prime truck delivery, and there was no damage to the generator. (I'm very thankful it was not delivered by FedEx....as their service has been horrible in my experience!!) I put wheels & handles on, added the oil, and gas....it started right up first try. It included connectors to build my own cable and had very clear instructions for the easy assembly that was needed. Had generator running in less than 15 minutes after opening the box. I opted to not get the dual fuel, just because getting additional propane tanks and having them filled is too much of a headache and expense, for the diminished output of the generator. Connection to the house was easy, and took another couple hours to hookup.

I test run the generator every month or so, and turn off the fuel supply and letting it basically run out of gas so the carburetor doesn't sit with fuel in it, then turn off the switches so the power doesn't drain. I've added a solar trickle charger from Harbor Freight, to keep the battery topped off.

Very happy with my DuroMax XP13000E purchase

Just got this unit today... the early side of the delivery window, which is a refreshing change from usual for me out where I live.
ANYWAY, I badly needed a replacement/upgrade for my previous generator - a predator 8750 from harbor freight (the previous generation for their 9000W peaker). A real workhorse, the old genny needs a lifter arm tightening bad. It got SO loud and clattery, and I really don't wanna run it into destruction. It's been in service for almost 4 years, I think, of continuous intermittent use. When I had to replace the carburator, I added a mod that allowed it to run on LP! THAT was cool. And so much quieter.
So, when all of a sudden, it became clear it was time to take it out of service, I was super bummed. But truth be told, I really needed more power output since my off-grid home system had GROWN in demand needs. While the DUROMAX is quite a bit more than the PREDATOR, it is already HYBRID! And has such nice bells and whistles. And I couldn't BELIEVE how quiet it is compared even to my predator 8750! I mean, it seems like it's (almost) inverter generator quiet! (Definitely NOT an objective measurement, LOL, but you know what I mean.)
Anyway, I was thrilled to find out that these ship with A STARTER BATTERY pre-installed! AND it came with the LP regulator hose, a super convenient oil filling spout, a tool pouch with all the wrenches you need for assembly and maintenance, a wheel kit, and a nice manual. VERY NICE to have such a thoughtful accessory package.
The system started up beautifully, and ran on gasoline so quietly... I was super impressed. Shocked - though not electrically! I can't wait to hook up to LP and do a metered comparison! PROPANE is usually WAY quieter to run in engines than gasoline, so I imagine I will be further delighted.
The fact that this thing puts out way more power than what I was used to before, means I can charge my home power system battery back as needed during the longer winter nights at a much higher rate, faster, and burn less fuel than the predator! I am super impressed with the value and flexibility of this unit. And since it's best to ALWAYS have backups, the generator it's replacing can not rest, get new life breathed into it, and can be semi-retired as a spare!

I had ordered the generator to replace my 1999 Y2K generator as a nor'easter was forecasted to arrive in a few days. Amazon promised 2 day delivery. Well the nor'easter hit but the Amazon delivery truck could not get to me due to all the trees down along my street. They sent me text messages to keep me updated. I selected to have it delivered the next morning between 9 - 12. At 9am on the button, the truck pulled up in front of my house and delivered the generator into my living room. Well done!

I immediately began setting it up and by noon I had assembled the wheels, handles and connected the battery and connected a small propane tank. It did not start at first, then I remembered the choke. Turned it off and it fired up immediately. We ran cables to the frig and lights to get things working again. Other reviews said that the small propane tanks would freeze up due to the draw on the propane. (ideal gas law at work). It did start to get frost around the machine. I moved the tank closer to the heat of the exhaust and this seemed to solve the problem as I used the entire tank over 3.5 hours.

The generator is very heavy. It moves relatively easily with the handles and wheels but I would hate to try to put it in the back of a pick-up or up/down stairs. I intend to get it wired into my electrical panel through a transfer switch and place the generator 3 feet above the ground to keep it above the snow line and also the water line as we are in a flood zone. I have no idea how I am going to lift this thing so I am going to spend the winter bulking up on the carbs. I would recommend this generator at this point. If anything changes, I will update this review. I have not been compensated or paid to write this review. However, if anyone would like to compensate me, I will use better adjectives and even emojis.

Well I just received mine yesterday ... and was very happy it arrived and very quickly !
There is minor basic assembly required , then added gas and oil ... fired up on first try !!
*However .... it was running at what seemed like a low rpm and it was shooting gasoline everywhere all over the place from the carburetor!!! * see video
Then realized I had to switch the Idle control switch on front panel to the OFF position , then bam!! The gas spraying out stopped and engine rpm raised substantially and ran like a champ !!
So if you have that issue also, check that switch on front panel next to the battery on switch ..
Seems well built and looking forward to hopefully a long life generator !

Absolutely amazed at how much power this thing puts out. Powered the blowers for my gas furnace, two mini fridges, medium chest freezer, full size fridge, dishwasher was running and good percentage of lights on in the house. I wired everything to the main breaker box and that project was pretty easy. Recommend someone with a little electrical experience at a minimum of course on the wiring part. Could be dangerous if you don’t know what your doing.

The unit arrived about 10 days after order placed. I was in no particular hurry, so this was fine with me. The carton had a few shallow crunch marks on it, otherwise intact. Delivery was right to my driveway, it took two of us and a dolly to move it where I needed it, very heavy unit. After removing from carton, a fast glance of the unit showed a nicely intact unit, no obvious defects. On the day of its unboxing the weather was a sweltering 107F, so I wasn’t moving very fast. Although tool are supplied, I used my own socket set for the assembly. Set up is easily a one person job, with a few moments of grunting. Its instruction recommends unboxing and turning the unit on its top on the included foam sheet for attaching wheels, do it.
The most difficult part of the assembly is getting to the battery, this portion was frustrating, but doable. Once I accessed the battery I attached the negative cable and installed a trickle charger cable, then reinstalled the battery. As soon as I had the battery back in place I plugged it into the charger while I completed the assembly. I think most mechanically minded persons could get it all done in under one hour.
Once the unit was together I ran out and got some 10W30 oil. I filled the oil with the supplied funnel, very easy, not too messy. By this point the battery had been on the charger for three hours. I was anxious to test my work so I followed the starting procedure for propane use. Guess what, it started on the first try! I let it run for 15 minutes. It sounded smooth running, and the noise lever quieter than my last generator which had a lower output rating.
I don’t have a power transfer switch setup for my home yet, so I can’t give a review on its load management. My intention is for it to run the AC, well pump, refrigerator, and a few lights during power outages.
I’m very pleased at this point with the unit. Assembly was straight forward except for accessing the battery, the startup process was much more straightforward than my last generator, no choke adjustment, just momentarily push a button, simple, everyone in the household will find it easy.
Further updates and pictures to follow after hooking it into my home. So far so good!

Installation Instructions are easy to follow and relatively easy to accomplish. It is a heavy unit, so an extra hand is helpful. I was able to do it myself, but it would be easier with someone helping.

My Unit came without any damage, and has performed excellent each time i've needed it (twice now).

The only warning I would provide, is that the exhaust blows EXTREMELY hot. I had it a good foot outside of my barn door, but had the exhausted pointed toward the barn (by mistake) and within 5 minutes the door jam was smoking! It will easily catch anything near it on fire. The controls are on the opposite side of the exhaust. In my situation, i have a short 30a cable to the barn, because its a big gauge cord. If you have the luxury of lots of room, or a long cable, you will have no issues with placement.

2 power outages, each time I wheel it outside the barn, fire it right up, and it powers my entire house, which includes A/C, Well-Pump, Refrigerators, computers, etc. I only had it bog down when the A/C kicked on at the same time my kids were all on their computers. If I switch it over to the 50a plug, it will likely have zero issues.

    So far its been great!

The home is 4,000sq ft with dual central air units, a water well pump and septic system. The only time you can hear a difference in the engine is when the down stairs A/C kicked on. Note that all the heavy load items never kicked on at the same time. If they did I don’t think it could have handled both A/C units and well pump at the same time. I also did not use the electric dryer or oven during this. For me this was worth every penny! As far as propane consumption after 6 hours of run time the Gage on the tank might have dropped 1/2 a percent but I honestly don’t think it moved. The only thing some people may not like is the noise level. In my opinion the noise wasn’t any louder than a 25hp zero turn lawn mower, the generator might have been a little quieter. But if you are more worried about noise than power I guess I recommend sitting in the dark and listen to the family complain about it lol. My wife and I still can’t believe that this 12kw handled the whole house! If you don’t mind hook up time during a storm it could save you around $13,000 compared to having a stand by generator installed. I hope this helps anyone on the fence about this unit. Also if you don’t know anything about generators or electrical please have a professional help you!

Fantastic generator. Mine will be forever only propane! Started very fast and ran like a charm. Directions were clear with pictures and all necessary tools and hoses for assembly and operation were provided (including a funnel and tube to fill the oil 10W-30 which you must buy 1.2quarts). I never put gas in mine because propane is cheaper, cleaner, easier to store (stores for years) and overall better than gasoline. I highly recommend this generator. Took me 35 minutes to setup and first start.

We got 2 of these generators that thankfully arrived just a few days before we were hit by Hurricane Ida. We only ran off gas, but with it getting tough to find fuel we are glad to have the option to use propane if needed. We ran both generators for just over 90 hours before power was restored (making sure to do required maintenance as shown in the manual). Both generators did great! We were able to run everything we needed to (including the oven and hot water heater periodically) and averaged about 8hrs between fills.....depending on what all we had on and trying to stop and fill/do maintenance before it ran out or when timing was best for us. It is heavy, bit still pretty easy to move around for it's size. Noise level is not bad and the idle control really helps if using smaller stuff (note in manual says not to use idle control when powering house).

Was delivered by freight company who placed it on our back patio. Pro electrician installed it along with the transfer switch to the house. Following the clear instructions supplied in the box it, the unit fired right up on gasoline.
Tested the generator by firing up our four ton a/c unit and it barely made a noticable change to the idle. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Engine noise is what I expected. Quite Tolerable.
Very manageable moving around. If you want to run you home central A/C or central heat, consider having an electrician inspect your home power supply. If needed for HVAC, it requires a 50amp outlet. Runs very well on propane. In case of a blackout we will have heat or air and be able to plug in 2 refrigerators. The extra electrical work was worth it, bringing my older home up to code and having the option for power in an emergency. Very satisfied.

Just finished the wires and interlocks, I’m only powering up right side box but safely first!
Started up this monster and turned on our 4 ton central AC, 65 inch flatscreen with Dish, and our fridge/freezer along with bedroom living room lights, worked perfectly!!! I am running on Propane, I plumbed 2 tanks together , I have couple 30 pounds and 4 40 pounds, so I start with 60 pounds then if I need I’ll tap into the 80 pounds......
I let it run for about 30 minutes just to make sure no issues, pulling 45 amps with all that running.
I got this just for emergency use, so I know we can stay cool, watch some TV and keep food cold.
I can always shut AC off to use microwave or other things as needed, not trying to run it all, but this 13,000 watt generator is a monster!!

I got the generator, followed through the instructions on setting it up:
    - put the oil in
    - filled with gas
    - hooked up the battery
    - turned the battery switch on
    - turned the idle switch off
    - turned the circuit breaker off
    - pressed and held the start button for 1 second

AND NOTHING..... It just tried over and over to start. I was frustrated, came back and searched through this forum, found no answers. I went back outside and traced the gas line. There was a silver knob that cuts the gas off. The moment I turned that to the down position, it fired right up. It's quite possible they mentioned it in the book and I missed it somewhere. I do think it should be prominent in the instructions. Other than that, great generator. Not enough of a complaint from me to drop it down from five starts. Anyways, I thought I'd post this for anyone else experiencing the same issue.

Very nice generator, good quality finish. Starts easily and is quieter than my past generator. Haven’t tested LP yet. One concern I have is that the breaker on the generator was tripping unexpectedly, with no audible surge to correlate. I looked behind the panel and found that the built-in circuit breaker is set to trip at around 43.8 amps (approx 10,500 watts). 43.75 amps is the rated running amperage. I’m guessing this is to protect the generator, but it means that this generator will never be able to come close to peak 13,000 watts (54.17 amps) as advertised. This is a bit unfortunate because I was counting on the extra surge capability to help start my home air conditioner. I’m purchasing a meter to verify the amperage, and I will follow up with their support to get more information.

I love this thing. It runs my 1/2hp water well, my 2.5 ton central air, fridge, freezer, all my lights, microwave and washer or dryer at the same time. The only thing is doesn’t run is my central heat. Well, I say it doesn’t, I haven’t tried the heater. Because, the generator is rated for 50 amps and my central heater is a 60 amp breaker

I just received it. It's heavy (about 300lbs) but I was able to get the wheels and feet on it by just lifting and propping one end up at a time all by myself. Assembly is pretty simple although the instructions are about as informative as "put the wheels on" but you'll manage if you have any sense and follow what instructions are there. And you need to follow ALL of the startup instruction and read all of the material before you crank it up and I don't believe you'll have any trouble. Some of the reviews I've read are clearly from people that didn't do that. I connected the battery to my charger overnight just to be sure, but it appeared to be nearly charged when I hooked it up (and, yes, the negative terminal was disconnected for shipping). Added 40 oz of oil the next day, hooked up propane, choked it, hit start button and it fired right up with no issues. Tests good so far. If it does anything other than it's supposed to I'll post a follow up on it's performance.

As far as noise, it's about as loud as my electric 20gal air electric air compressor. The handles are good enough and I can easily maneuver it and I'm not a big guy by any means.

First of all, I live in Texas where we never thought we would be buying generators like bags of potato chips! Freezemageddon came in February 2021 and we found out just how fragile the power grid here may be. Who knows if there will be another polar vortex like this but we also have hurricanes along the coast and a host of what may come we don't know type of concerns. I did a lot of online review shopping before I settled on this generator. I have a 3,500 sqft house with two 3 ton HVAC and one 2 on HVAC units. The Duromax XP15000EH is the largest dual fuel portable they make. It's more expensive than the next smaller unit because of the engine. Lower units have a splash oil system and are single piston. This unit is dual piston and has an oil pump/cooler and filter. I'll let the reader research any further technical specs. I bought the generator on Amazon (in stock) and it arrived the other day in an 18 wheeler.

As you can see from the photos I added, right out of the gate I added a pigtail to the battery and plugged in the "CTEK 40-206 MXS 5.0 Fully Automatic 4.3 amp Battery Charger and Maintainer 12V" All my motorcycles are on this charger and the generator will live on one too. Got it on Amazon.

The next photo is an oil change valve. It is the EZ-106 with Hose End Combo (includes a 3/8 clear drain hose). The overall product is available on Amazon but this particular model number I had to go to the company website to find. On the Duromax XP15000EH the drain plug hole is 14mm and the EZ-113 drain valve fits that.

You probably know the generator does not ship with oil, so I went out and bought two quarts of Castrol 10W-30. The engine takes 1.6 liters of that which is about 1.7 quarts. I just used a plastic throw away measuring cup and added 400ml of oil 4 times. The shipping box includes a funnel.

I just got in from the generators first test run on propane. I simply used a half full bbq grill sized bottle and hooked up the supplied hose. No gas teflon tape needed (I called Duromax) and there is no regulator purge button anymore on the propane regulators that are built in to the frame. There is an instruction card on the handle that I followed (start with choke on then quickly off). I turned the key and it fired up like an Indy race car. I'll give it a total one hour run in and then change the oil. I to turn the generator off I first tuned the valve off on the propane, then turned the generator key to off. My local electric company comes tomorrow to put in a transfer panel, then I'll spend a few days deciding on what sized propane tank(s) I want to keep on hand. I bought a 30 foot 50 amp coord on Amazon and that's going to be my main connection to the house.

Whether gasoline or propane, if you shut off the fuel supply and let the generator burn out what is in the lines you're way, WAY ahead of people who do the opposite. Keep the battery on a tender and change the oil like a maniac (I go way overboard on oil/filter changes for a reason), and I see no reason why a generator like this won't last a long time.

This was the second attempt at purchasing this generator. I originally ordered it back in the summer time after we lost power with heavy storms. Unfortunately the wrong unit was delivered. I was home at the time and sent the unit back with the driver. I called Amazon and they refunded me my money and then it didn’t seem like a priority until we had a snow storm two weeks ago. (But thankfully didn’t loose power) We decided to try again. This time the correct unit was delivery in about 2 days. And I’m so grateful we did THIS SAVED OUR CHRISTMAS! We had a storm that knocked out our power 5am Christmas morning and would of been without power for about 13-14 hours. This unit (13000EH) was powerful enough to run our entire home included heat. (I will have to wait until the summer to see if it can run our Central AC, but from my research I believe it will)

That being said, here is my review and what to expect.

Unboxing the unit was pretty easy. I did it by myself. Cut the box open and then flip the generator upside down. It will allow you to easily remove the orange shipping brace and attached the wheels/legs.

The instructions said brace(s) and claimed there was a block of wood. I spent about 10 minutes looking for it and realized that there wasn’t any other brace. Only the one brace.

Flip it back over and attached the handle bars. Connect the battery. I had to take off the face plate (4 bolts) to get my hand in there to access the battery terminal.
    The battery was NOT dead.

You will need to purchase engine oil (40 oz of SAE10w-30) I purchased at Lowe’s for like 6 bucks

I hooked up a bottle of propane and was able to fire it right up on the first try.

Important to know. A standard bbq tank of propane (20lb) will only last about 3-4 hours before it runs out or freezes up. The company does say the preferred propane tank size, is a 40 lb tank. (I didn’t have chance to purchase one yet)

FYI, if you go for a bigger tank then 40lb you will need some other hardware because the valve on a 100lb tank isn’t the same as a 20/40 lb tank

Also important to know. You will have to purchase a Power cord. It only comes with the Male/female adaptor piece. No cord

So far, I have not notice any issue with the tires. They did not go flat from the weight of the machine. (I only ran it on propane so far so I don’t know if the added weight of a full tank of gasoline would Cause a problem)

The handles are long and provide good leverage. So, Moving the unit around wasn’t a problem for me

The generator is loud when you are standing right next to the exhaust side, but it is much quieter then I expected.
I had it 20’ off from the house and with the doors/windows shut it wasn’t really that noticeable.

Overall I’m am very happy with the purchase, the quality of this generator seems impressive. Duel fuel is convenient. This unit has a lot of power for the money.

The delivery experience was awful and the box was distorted, and the scheduled delivery was 6a to 9a and i got it a day later at 4pm, i was not happy to wake up at 530am two mornings in a row for nothing But it seemed intact-ish inside except one part (see picture) and the electrician was coming the next day, so i took my chances and put it together. It worked using propane. I did not try it with gas. hi put in a service ticket on the manufacture website for the broken part. We’ll see what happens with that. Also please note that it does come with a hose for the propane tank. But nowhere in the manual or parts list or anything does it say it does, I was able to return the hose that I purchased because I didn’t think it was included. So it wasn’t that big of a deal. But I would put it in the parts list or something so that other people know. Also it doesn’t say anywhere that the battery is disconnected. It makes sense that it was. But I was fustsing with it for a while before I realized that the leads were disconnected. I had to take the front panel off to be able to access the battery leads to connect them. I like everything about this unit so far. It’s just that the delivery experience was awful. I’m just glad it worked even though it was completely beat up.

Purchased this for the great advantage of the ability to use either LP or Gasoline. Also, this unit has 220 volt capabilities for providing power to our well pump.

Very reasonably priced for the amount of unit that you get.

Assembly was quick and easy, but make sure you have a helper if you choose to put it on its back to install the legs and wheels. It is heavy!!

On the negative side, it is VERY LOUD. I have an inverter generator that allows you to hear normal level conversation while standing next to the machine when it is running full bore. However the inverter generator does not have the 220 volt ability which takes a larger engine to spin the generator section of the unit. Not a deal breaker, but beware your neighbors will know you have power!

Keep in mind that it is more efficient while running on gasoline versus LP, but if power in the area is out for a while, and you have a 500 gallon LP tank, you will be in good shape for a few days.

    On the positive side:
    1. Easy assembly
    2. Duel Fuel for rural areas with propane service
    3. Easy electric start for older persons
    4. Plenty of power options - 12v. 120 and 240.

    On the negative side:
    1. Very loud
    2. 1/2 run time using LP over gasoline.

For the power needs for the price, I highly recommend this unit.

It runs great and easily powers two large A/C units on my trailer.

My only issue is that the legs in the front are made out of the cheapest material available. The vibration alone caused the feet to fold over and collapse.

It arrived on time by truck. The delivery couple had trouble with their lift gate and dropped it- almost slowly- over the side of the back of the truck. No apparent harm though. Some of the welding of the frame is a bit substandard.
    - The tool kit that it comes with isn't enough to set it up. You'll need other metric tools or adjustable wrenches.
    - The hardware list of nut and bolt sizes they enclose isn't accurate. I used 8, 10, 13, 15 mm and larger wrenches for the job. Attaching the axle stubs involved a 3/4 in for the nut and an 11/16 wrench to hold tight against.
    - The tires are hard foam. Pneumatic would be better. I found them at Harbor Freight on sale at $4 each. There is no wear washer, so they rub on the cotter pin. You need one with a 5/8th in center hole. The axles are 5/8 inch diameter.
    - The manual says to flip the unit over to work on the base. Use the piece of foam in the box to flip the top of the generator onto it. You do not have to, you could put it on blocks and do the work. Getting it out of the box by turning it over is easy if you are strong enough.
    - Remove the wood block that's cable tied on one end of the frame. There were two red/orange metal braces to remove also near the motor mounts on the other end.
    - Turn it back over before you put on the carry handles, then install them. It rolls pretty easily with the handles on.
    - Remove the plate over the battery location below the controls. The battery on mine was all but fully charged. Getting the negative terminal on is tricky. It BARELY reaches the post. You have to undo the bolt fully and then position the locking nut in the terminal post, holding it up to the bolt as you try to catch the threading. Use the tool kit screwdriver for this- it flips from flat to Phillips- slide it under the locking nut and push up.
    - They tell you to ground the generator with a 12 awg piece of wire ( not supplied ). They show you where to hook up the ground on the control panel, but give no clues as to how much of a ground pole you need to use for it. I'm going to use a spare hunk of copper pipe.
    - You add 1 and 1/4 quarts of oil to the engine. The oil funnel provided does help some but the hose on it is a bit short. Pour slowly.
    - With the switch OFF, I pulled the manual starter cord 5 or 6 times to lubricate the motor up so it was not dry.
    - Main breaker OFF, nothing connected to power plugs. Make sure the gasoline line is OFF to run on propane. This generator can't change fuel supply while running, you have to shut it down to switch fuels. I'm not fond of all that gasoline directly above the hot unit, so I will be running propane as the normal source of fuel which can be kept -away- from the exhaust end of the generator and out of the heat. A remotely tanked gasoline option, like used on an outboard motor, would be a nice alteration to this system especially if you want it in an enclosure as I intend to do.
    - I hooked up the propane. A regular 20 pound tank worked fine. I went and bought a 40 pounder to run as the supply. Others have talked about setting the choke at about 1/2 way to start on propane. Yes, that works but there is no fixed half choke position, you do this by feel. It will take a few turns of the motor to start as it needs to purge the air out of the line before it gets propane. Once it starts, set the choke to OFF and it runs smoothly. Let it run a couple minutes, then switch the breaker on, then you plug in based on largest load you need first. READ the manual!!!
    - The motor started up nicely and ran smoothly. It's not that noisy. The muffler is pretty good sized, and it's not too bad even directly below a bedroom window.
    - The manual is pretty good. But I saved other tips I got from reviews of this unit for operation. Breaker OFF, then Shut off your propane tank valve and let the engine die before you switch the key off.
    - They supply you with power plugs, no cables, and no instructions on how to use them or make your own cables. I bought pre made with multi outlets for the 30 and 40 amp outlets. They do not provide the 50 amp plug. I'll use the 50 amp outlet to tie into my home later on.
    - The manual does not provide any instructions about connection to a home for a main power supply backup, nor does it tell you what you need to have to do so. One of the reviews here gives you a part list of items to make a home connection.
Last words: I have not put mine into real time use yet, but it is ready for it after buying the extra supplies you need to make use of it. It should be fine for the needs I want it to meet in an emergency, although I am sure it isn't as powerful as the stand alones you can buy - but is is a lot cheaper.

So far so good. We had an electrician install a manual transfer switch and sub-panel in our house. We wanted something to keep the most needed circuits going during snow storms etc. The cost of the subpanel and transfer switch was about as much as the generator. This covers about 25% of our house (can't do our heat pump and AC), but can do fridge, lights, sump pump, septic, and some miscellaneous things. We also had an urgent need for backup power due to a family member with medical issues. The generator seems to do the job, but we have not run it for long periods. One thing of note, we have computers on UPS power. Several of the UPS units we have did not really appreciate the generator power (they click in at times and back out, and one actually refused to use the power and ran out of battery). I think it might be due to frequency slightly higher than 60Hz. I need to check into that. I deducted 1 star for the UPS issue, but many people will not care about this and it might be the same for most generators. I will update if I have new information.
    -------------
Update regarding UPS: I asked DuroMax about the UPS issue. They replied, (paraphrasing): that the frequency will be about 62 to 63 Hz at no load, and settles to 60Hz when the load exceeds 50%. Additionally, a standard UPS can have trouble cleaning generator power, but "on-line double conversion" UPS will be capable of cleaning generator power and won't turn off during fluctuations.

So if you are intending to use the generator for circuits with UPS (e.g. for computers), you may need to be aware of this. Many people will not care so much about this. I'm going to give the star back, changing the review to 5 stars.

First I would like anyone buying this Generator, read the reviews. The assembly instructions tell you to flip it upside down for easier assembly. It weighs 230lb. so unless you are a football linebacker, this is not a good idea.I am a small person and had to go it alone.First I took a razor knife and cut it out of the box.Folded the box down on 4 sides.I used a small sizzors jack and jacked up one side.I was able to remove shipping brackets, wooden block. Also hope you have your own tools, because the tools they send are junk.I installed the wheels handles and rear brackets one side at a time without any problem.I connected mine to propane. The instructions say to move the choke to the right when using propane. This is wrong.Move the choke to the left, maybe a little to the right but mostly to the left.Keep one hand on the choke and the other on the key.Turn the key and once it starts, then move the choke all the way to the right and she purrs like a kitten,or more like a tractor trailer as she is quiet loud. Also when I hooked up the propane line I used Dawn dishwash liquid to put around the line to make sure I had no propane leaks,it will make bubbles, propane leaking is very dangerous.I used pliers to just snug the line to the machine. Also the instructions don"t say where the battery ground cable is.You have to remove the side plate on the Generator to get to the battery. Then get a small flashlight look on top of the engine right behind the battery and you will find the ground cable. When you take the battery ground screw out it has a floating nut that drops. When you put the ground wire on,now your bolt is too short. So I used a pocket knife to get under the nut to get the bolt started, which is not easy, but it worked.I have an electrician coming to hook it up to my house, have not tried it yet to see what type of load it will carry, but the delivery was good.Ordered on Thursday and was delivered on Saturday at the time I selected.Amazon does good.Hope this helps someone with assembly, will add more when I get to put it under a load. One more thing,I used a kitchen measuring cup to exactly measure out 37 ounces of oil. After adding oil it still checked low.So i got my level and even tho the machine was sitting on a concrete pad the pad was not level, cocking the machine slightly to one side.Use a level on your machine when adding oil 37 ounces is all you need to put in.Hope I never need mine but tired of power outages.

I live in CA and now I'm praying PG&E doesn't turn off my electricity until after I have my generator all set up and ready to go! I live up in the mountains and they turn it off 3 to 4 days at a time, at least 1 to 2 times a month! Now that I've got "The Beast", I'll be good and ready!

This is an excellent Generator, my only complaint is I didn't pay the extra $100 to get the 13,000 watt duromax model.

This 12,000 watt Generator runs our whole house, including the 3 ton air conditioner.

Two things to watch for, the Generator ships with the battery disconnected and the plastic wheels will get a flat spot if the Generator sits for a long time. To solve the flat spot problem, I put a short piece of 2x4 beside the wheel, under the axel. Flat spot problem solved...

Thought I was ordering a dual fuel generator as this is what I was looking for online. I didn't notice that a gas generator was mixed in with the dual fuel generators I was looking at. My fault for not paying attention, but I can live with it. Easy starting and will run the entire house. (Water pump, heater, freezer, refrigerator, electric stove and oven, tv and air conditioner and lights.)

I just received it yesterday and the first thing I did was to inspect it because the only bad reviews that I saw on this generator was due to the delivery but and I can see why because this thing is heavy but I was happy to see mine arrive in great shape. As to the generator I put it together added the oil, connected the negative on the battery open the fuel line hit the start button and there she was, running like a champ I must say it was pretty quiet for the size of this generator I only put in about little less than a half a gallon of gas so I could let it run until the gas ran out because I was planning to install it to my natural gas line for the final install to the house but I'm going to say it ran great with no problems until it ran out of gas. I'm very happy with my purchase and I would definitely recommend it to anyone oh and before I forget the delivery guy told me that he has delivered lots of these Duramax generators I was really surprised and happy at the same time to here him telling me that.

We have a 2200 sq ft home in Florida. We chose this unit for emergency power backup where power loss is a constant issue. I’m uncomfortable with storing gas in my garage but I need access to a fuel source at a moments notice. I keep 4 20lb propane tanks filled on hand and keep 6 empty 5 gal gas cans too be filled. With a transfer switched installed I can have my entire house powered in minutes. This unit will even power my central air as well but that would be a huge fuel draw, so I have a portable air conditioner. This unit starts right up at a touch of a button, and even for a “quiet” unit it is loud. With this unit we have peace of mind That we didn’t have before

When covid hit and shortages began I thought I would get this generator but things normalized somewhat and i thought it would just be a dead weight taking up space and would never be used. But a few weeks later we had a local power outage. I thought it wouldn't last for long but I had a 50 AMP outlet in my garage and I wired the 50 AMP outlet from the generator to backfeed the house (always shut off the main first!). Worked great! But an hour after getting it set up the grid was fixed and I thought once again the generator would just sit around never to be used again. Until the derecho (a word I'd never heard of before) decimated Cedar Rapids, Iowa. With winds up to 140 MPH causing hundreds of thousands of power outages I plugged in the generator and powered up our house FOR THE NEXT 12 DAYS. I have multiple freezers and fridges, a family of 7, multiple animals, etc. I had to balance the load but eventually settled on running most outlets, central air circulation without AC, ceiling fans and most lights with the 50 AMP outlet and a commercial double fridge and freezer with the 20 AMP outlet. I could run AC if I shut down most everything else but I blew a capacitor and it took a while to get a replacement. The generator ran basically non-stop for 12 days. I stopped it to check the oil and added a little when needed, not much but it was a few ounces over the 12 days. Air filter remained clean. This thing was a lifesaver. All my neighbors thought it was just a little outage and an opportunity to spend more time outside the first day without power. But by day 2 they were all scrambling for impossible to come by generators until mass numbers were shipped in after several days. My only complaint would be the battery. There is no lead to the negative terminal and turning the key didn't turn over the generator. But it is extremely easy to pull the cord. I did hook a wire to the 12 volt charging ports on the front of the generator and ran them to the battery and the key did work but I'm sure that isn't the right way to do it. So I'm not sure how it is supposed to work or if something was missing but I can't really complain. Love this thing. Emptied out the gas and cleaned the air filter as per the instructions so I'm ready for the next disaster, which based on 2020 so far probably isn't more than a few weeks away.

I purchased this portable emergency generator in preparation for the Florida storm season. A permanent installed backup generator was not a sensible option for us in our HOA development, and as it turned out, about 5x as expensive. In preparation for use we had a local electrician install hard wiring to the house breaker panel from a generator receptacle installed on the back patio where we would locate the generator when needed, and purchased a 50 amp emergency generator cable to connect to this receptacle. The Duramax 12000 generator arrived on time and undamaged. The directions for unpacking, setting up and running the generator were adequate, although as mentioned in other reviews, these instructions did not mention that you must connect the negative (black) battery lead. I added Royal Purple synthetic 10w30 break in oil for the test run (later replaced with regular synthetic) and added 2 gallons of gasoline. The generator ran for about two hours and powered our whole 1800 sq ft home including the Central AC, minus the water heater, clothes dryer and pool pump. Note: One thing to consider is the start up current for the central AC compressor, so I had a hard start capacitor installed by our AC maintenance company which worked great. The test was successful and the generator ran for 2 hours without any issues powering the house. I drained about .5 gallons of gasoline from the tank before placing it in storage. The generator was louder than I expected, but I have nothing to compare it to for context so perhaps that is normal. I am confident that this generator can power my house if needed for extended periods as long as I can locate gasoline. I purchased two 14 gallon fuel caddies to store gasoline when a large storm is approaching as large Propane tanks are not a viable option for us in our community. I am very satisfied with this generator, it is a good value for the money. I will update this review if I need to deploy this into service in an actual emergency!

I purchased the DuroMax XP12000EH on October 7, 2018 for $1229.00. We lost power yesterday 6.3.2020 afternoon and were without power for about 10 hours. This was the first time I was able to put the generator to use. I used 20lb propane tanks (grill tanks). The batter was dead however the engine started after 5-6 pulls on the cord. The machine powered our entire house. I had the AC running, well and septic pumps, all lights, electric water heater and all appliances. It did trip a fuse which may be due to using the microwave while the AC was running. I averaged about 4 hrs of run time on 1 20lb propane tank. We are in for some more storms this weekend so I may get more use. I have 6 propane tanks and 40 gallons of 93 octane gas ready to go if needed. Once we are in the clear i will change out the oil. Overall very happy with this unit! Please note the wheels do flatten on one side from prolong sitting however I was able to roll into place without much of an issue.

This gen was delivered on time & arrived in a pretty good condition.
(not as heavy as mentioned on previous reviews & easy to move around!).The only problem that I encountered was trying to get it started on propane! Followed the instructions according to the manual & on the label on the gen but no luck! ( On the trouble shooting page there was no reference on how to start w/propane!
After I was ready to call customers service, I remember someone on the reviews that said he got the same problem & he mentioned the instructions said to open the choke to the right but instead he just opened about 3/4 & bingo! So far I had run it on both, gas & propane w/no problem & they also had upgraded the regulator!
I also noticed that on the maintenance it recommended the spark plug as f6rtc. My gen came w/ f7tc ( maybe bc I live in fl.?).
I will suggest a manual update). Overall, I'm very happy w/ this gen & will recommend it!
Ps: I haven't put a load on yet. So will do a follow up on that.

I do events and shows of all kinds. I sometimes rent large Generators. I also own a couple of small Generators. I was surprised to see this same Generator the 10000 watt variation still available. I also own a 3500 watt quiet Generator. For many uses I need this larger 8500-10000watt Generator. I have not had problems with this Duromax Generator over the 7 years of use. I do some maintenance but not as much as the manual states. I use the Generator about ten times a year. I do have to transport it and at over 200 lbs it is difficult to maneuver. In use, I sometimes run it up to 16 hours. It has supplied reliable power for Multiple 2000 to 4000 watt professional Power Amplifiers. Digital and Analog Mixing boards, Band or DJ Equipment and LED Lights. No band or other person has even noticed or had a problem with the power supplied. I initially bought this Generator because it had a quieter Noise rating than most comparable Generators. Around 80db if I remember correctly at about 25 feet away. It is noisy compared to my newer quiet Generator which is half the size. I often place it about a hundred feet away from the stages to keep the level down. I do draw max power from it but it has not ever shut down. I do measure and monitor the power draw in use. It has been a good Generator. I do recommend this Duromax 10000. I do recommend doing preventative maintenance and checking it before use. I am not aware of a better Generator for this size (8500-10000) and reasonable price range. It has been a good Generator.

Few issues. 1. Shipping company I had sux .....Box was beat up bad .
    2. After opening box I discovered that the hand start housing was pushed in a bit as was the end housing for the generator head. No problem I’m a mechanic I can repair. Which I did.
    3. After finding battery ground I had to disassemble the front battery cover and tray which wasn’t expected.
    4. The propane Regulator that comes with the machine will not work for the new 100 lb propane bottles I have so I will need to buy an adapter , which is no big deal.

Those are the only issues I have at the moment as I haven’t tried running the house with it .........so I will come back and update ASAP. After that happens.

    Nice machine though.

Two words to the shipping company. You’re Fired!

Let it run for about 30 minutes but have not hooked it 7p to the house yet will update when I do. Be aware though you may receive a new model that has a different propane regulator than what is shown in the manual and instructions. With this new model regulator there is NO purge valve, it is self priming, and the engine will not start unless you put the CHOKE in the HALF way open position to start electrically or manually. Once the engine has started you don't have to wait you can just put the choke into the full open position. English speaking tech support answered very fast for a Friday afternoon and explained all of this to me confidently and everything they said worked just fine. Their manuals are not up to date though so just be mindful. Also like many other reviews the box was a little busted but no scrates or anything on the generator itself.

Purchased this for my next door neighbor.
I had purchased the 12000 watt version of this about a year and a half ago. It was OVERKILL for my house, but gave me peace of mind as during hurricanes I live far enough inland of the Florida Atlantic seaboard that some more coastal friends with RV's come here during immediate coastal evacuations.
The 12000 (running on propane) impressed my neighbor and I so much that I helped him order this particular one.
He has a 3 bedroom mobile home on his property with FIVE window AC units in it. In addition, there are 2 "tiny" homes that people live in on the premises, each with a window AC in them. Coupled with every house having a refrigerator, one chest freezer in a shed, and all of the normal lighting that would go along with as much space as they have, we decided bigger would definitely be better.
It was delivered a couple of months ago, but getting around to getting everything set up and wired into their main electrical service took a little while. That was finally accomplished this weekend in the face of Hurricane Dorian heading our way. Yesterday... We turned off everything in all of the houses at the perspective breaker boxes. Killed the power from the street. Fired the 13K up and let it run for about 15 minutes on propane. First to come online was the main house. We began by slowly turning on window air conditioners. We decided to only go with the big window AC in the common area of the house (thinking there being if it's an emergency. Everyone can sacrifice a little and huddle in a main room.) The came the fridge, and finally the chest freezer was plugged in and turned on. The generator hardly ramped up RPM's.
Then in sequence threw the main breakers for one, then the other tiny house. Fridges on, then AC's. Genny finally began to ramp up. Went back into the main house and cut on 2 more window AC's. Genny still hanging tight.
We had drained the hot water tank (80 gallons) prior to testing and filled in with cold water so we would KNOW it kicked on. Finally we turned that on. Seemed to be no problem. Genny running full open at this point.
Feeling well satisfied with ourselves (and definitely with the generator) we did a walk around the premises and one by one turned on and off various sundry items trying to trip of the genny's main breaker. Didn't happen.
We walked around to the back yard and it dawned on us that no one had turned off the 33' x 52" above ground pool pump and filtering system and it had been drawing on the genny all along.
Ran everything on the premises for 6 hours yesterday before shutdown on a 100lb LP bottle. Our best guesstimate was in had consumed about 1/3 of the tank (24.5 gallon capacity)
We're feeling very comfortable that we're ready to go come Dorian or whatever else

Living in Florida through 5 days of no power from Irma, I never wanted to be without power again. Debated and researched purchasing a smalller unit, to use with extension cords and a window AC unit, then found the DuroMax XP10000E for $699 here. I got a deal., and it was cheaper than buying a smaller unit plus a window AC unit. The wattage, and 50amp 240V output are enough to power my 1500 sq ft house, including the 2.5 ton AC unit, computers, tv, stereo, refrigerator and every light in the house. My electrical engineer who installed a transfer switch and receptacle on the outside of my garage was skeptical of my consumption calculations, warning that if my AC unit was one that powered up in 10 seconds it might be too much of a draw; if the AC took 30 secs to power up, then it might work. Once we hooked it up, it worked like a champ! The lights do flicker a bit when the AC recycles back on, but I can deal with that. Sensitive electronics are protected with UPS. I've kept the hot water off, but if I need that I can always turn off the AC for an hour. And I haven't tried the oven; I only use that a few times a year anyways and can do without it. I've only run the Duramax for 30-45 minutes, but am very satisfied. Thrilled to know I'll be comfortable while others are in the dark next time. The 3-year warranty gives confidence, too. Mine was delivered within a few days in perfect shape with none of the issues other reviewers have mentioned.

I only write reviews when I really like something or really hate it. I really like this generator, the DuroMax 12kW. I considered buying a permanent standby generator but I couldn't justify the $20,000 expense (that's what I was quoted by several suppliers here in Naples FL). That said, the Florida heat is insufferable and while a smaller generator could power a room A/C, we really wanted our central air, a new 5 ton 14SEER Carrier unit. The problem is that it demands 144 amps/32kW at start up and no portable can handle that load. After doing some research, I learned about a KICK START (also called a Hard Start) device; essentially a secondary capacitor and regulator that soft starts the AC. $250 later and my big central AC dropped to 38A/8360 measured watts! Exciting, but would it work? I had an electrician wire the inlets (I have two 200 amp service boxes, one for the high amperage stuff including the central AC, stove, pool pump etc. and the other for the rest of the house). I put the 50 amp inlet to the high current box and the 30 amp to the other. The electrician installed the Interlock kits on each service box, along with dedicated breakers for the generator. This is IMPORTANT, even critical, to prevent back flow of the generator current to the grid, which could be lethal to a line worker. It forces you to either use the power from the grid OR the power from the generator, but not both at once. You simply slide the metal plate which allows you to switch on the generator; then back when power is restored. See pictures. The Duromax arrived this morning. It looks great and was not as large as I feared, although it is heavy. I was able to flip it upside down to install the wheels and feet by myself (I'm 60, but in reasonably good shape). On the advice of other reviewers, I didn't bother with the original tires but went to ACE hardware and bought a pair of robust inflatable ones. They may go flat, but I can put air in! The ones that come with it are some sort of hard foam. Time for Duromax to improve the wheels. I also noticed that there are no ORANGE shipping braces as referenced in the manual. Just not there and it appears they aren't needed. There is also no longer a purge value for the propane regulator. Duromax needs to update the manual in this regard, although importantly they did update the regulator. Everything you need to connect to propane is in the box. The unit was a little troublesome to start. As others have noted, I had to move the choke to the mid position to start, then back off quickly when it fired up. Follow the start-up instructions to the letter, including starting with the breaker on the unit set to OFF and the loads off at the service box(es). I connected up and started initially with only the central AC on. The unit powered up and I did a series of fist pumps! Then I turned on the other box fed by the 30 amp circuit and the rest of the house powered up. I didn't press my luck trying to run other heavy loads, like the pool pump or the electric stove, but in an actual power outage I would plan to cycle those loads - turn the AC off to run the pool for a while or heat the hot water for a shower. The main thing was the Central AC. The Duromax is not quiet, but neither are the whole permanent whole home generators. I had the electrician mount the inlets on the side of my home nearest the driveway so I can just roll this out and keep it well removed from the house. With the garage doors shut, it's fine inside (and cool!) You can hear the big Duromax slightly change pitch when the AC comes on but it doesn't seem to be struggling at all. I am IMPRESSED. While I don't want a hurricane knocking out power, I feel like we are now prepared should it happen (and it will down here, just a matter of when). Although I have ordered some 40lb propane tanks (I never intend to put gas in this machine), I tested it for an hour running the whole house using a 20lb tank. I bought a Flameking Bluetooth scale on Amazon and with a full tank starting at 80% after an hour I re-measured. It hardly moved, was still showing 80%! (Yes, the scale works because I've measured other tanks and it stores those results). The base of the 20lb tank was getting a little frosty; I've read that tanks freezing can be a problem but the solution is a bucket of water a few inches up the tank. Overall I highly recommended the Duromax 12kw!

I rarely write reviews, but I know for this purchase, I relied some what heavily on the verified reviews. First off I work in the construction world, and feel I have a above average aptitude for trouble shooting, installation, and confidence of use. The generator came on a truck with a Tommy gate, and the driver unloaded and placed in the garage for my wife (I was out of town), trucking company communicated well and timely. I put the accessories on, I.e. handles, wheels, etc, which was a semi easy task, I will note the generator is heavy, I don’t have an exact weight but I had to grunt a little to move it around with out the wheels. I filled with oil (full synthetic), fresh 93 grade fuel, and hooked the battery up and let it sit for a few hours. The generator fired right up with the electric start, and ran fairly good but was a little choppy and ran hard. I turned it off and checked oil and for any issues/leaks. I let it sit for a little longer and started back up and still ran a little rough, which I attributed to being a new start with no load to the motor. I hooked the generator up with the provided whip, into my 50a generator plug, that I wired into my panel. As soon as I started turning on breakers the generator rev’d up and was singing perfectly with no hiccups. I turned on all breakers, including my A/C and furnace (for blower fan). I live in Florida on the space coast, and this generator will be vital during hurricane season. The a/c for some reason didn’t start up at first, but after some time I did get it to kick on, and the generator rev’d up more and still sounded good. The noise level is actually quiet for its size and capability, but it’s by no means quiet. At the time it was running the majority of the lights in my house, A/C, tv, fans, fridge, and microwave. It finally tripped and pulled to much when my wife decided to run the dish washer. I will add to my review on my next maintenance run, or use after a power outage. I put 0 stars for tech support because I have not needed it to this point, so I can’t accurately rate this.

I got this generator a few days ago, it came on a palette in great condition. I will update this review after a year or so of use, this is an initial impression after about a 3 hour test run.

    Some Notes:

    1. It does not come with motor oil. You will need to add 1 ¼ quarts of 10W-30, get a long neck funnel too to avoid spilling all over place.
    2. I plan to use this generator ONLY as an emergency backup. (Propane Only)

After some testing I made some observations:
    1. Run Time: 20LB BBQ Propane Tank 50% load about 3 hours, 75% + load about 1 hour
    2. REMOVE ENGINE BRACES BEFORE ADDING FLUIDS!

Noise: About the same as a lawn mower even under heavy load (only tested on propane). Not horribly loud.

    Other Notes:

    1. After adding oil, it fired up on first try, starter button is very nice, feels like a car.
    2. Since I will only use as backup, it is recommended (by DuroMax) that I use a battery tender.
    3. 20LB BBQ tanks are convenient because they are easy to swap but for longer backup run times, I highly recommend you purchase a 100LB or so tank
    4. Other things I learned in my research: This unit is CARB compliant for 250 hours and the engine life (before major maintenance required) is about 500 hours. Oil life is 20 hours per manual.
    5. This unit is very well made, instructions made it easy to assemble. Looks like it will last a very long time, option to switch on the fly to pump gasoline is very nice (especially in emergency situations).

My Application: With 50 AMP connection to my panel the unit ran 2 fridges, sump pump, 30 AMP HVAC unit (NAT GAS Furnace), most of lights in house (LED), TV, Internet, and Firestick. No flickering even when compressors kicked on.

    [Yes, it is Chinese made]

It's heavy, but for what it does..Comes in 2 days, few things to put on, very easy and well thought out. I actually put it together backward first, so ya might wanna look at the picture first. Starts instantly.Powerful ! Honda copy, love it, get one. I installed a 50 amp inlet as suggested by Amazon. Just cut a 1/2" hole from inside panel thru brick to outside, then a 2' piece of 6-4 wire from hwd store with some other stuff to mount box to brick,,box to double pole 50s with a manual transfer switch for safety. Flick off the main, turn on 50's and power ! I only turn on the things I need one at a time, slowly, but man I am thrilled. Don't do wiring if you aren't experienced, electricity coming in is EXTREMELY deadly. If you do it like I did, it's an awesome way and very safe but code doesn't like it, but they have a lot of different motivations.. Anyway hope this helps you.

XP13000EH was delivered well packaged and in excellent condition. Put it together and had it running inside an hour; just follow instructions. Flushed crankcase and refilled with 10W-30 Synthetic oil. This is a very nice machine and well built. Pulls the rated wattage (only ran gas so far). My boys and I agree it runs quieter than the 9500 Hxxxx BxxxMxx it replaced. Customer service is excellent, answering questions before purchase and after purchase. So far I couldn’t be happier with this 500cc, 20HP, 13kW/10.5kW beast (just keep an eye on the auto choke). Only wish I could have afforded the 713cc V-Twin. Thank you DuroMax!

I bought this generator in Oct 2017 and it sat unused until this last weekend. We had record-breaking winds that killed our power for 8+ hours. Well, this is what I bought it for so I hoped all went well.
When the power failed I literally hadn’t taken the propane hose out of the shipping bag. There were still tags on the unit. The generator hadn’t been started, filled with oil or any fuel up to that point. I hooked up the propane tank, followed the instructions (I did have to pull-start), fired it up and that was it! I hooked into the house power panel and ran two freezers, three refrigerators, a large wine cooler, WiFi and most lights I chose to use.

There was a bit of “surging” after it had run a while. One call to their technical support line and all was good. The full 35 gallon propane tank lasted for approximately 7 hours. We did have an electrician wire our house so it is a simple process to hook up the generator. If at all possible, this is the best way to go.

Overall I couldn’t be happier with my “BEAST”!

    There is an added caveat.
As I don’t use my generator regularly, I decided to add a “trickle charger”. This proved to be quite a pain in the rear. The battery couldn’t be more difficult to access. The posts are horizontally mounted on the battery with 10mm nuts. These are almost impossible to reach. The battery itself is installed behind a panel that must be removed. The battery is secured by a metal plate across the top. The nuts on this piece are difficult to access as well. Curiously, when I began the arduous process of battery replacement I found that both the positive and negative cables were attached to the positive post. When I set the cables in the normal fashion and added the charger, it wouldn’t start. Support advised me to fill the oil until it was close to overflow, and since I use propane, to open the fuel valve half way. SUCCESS!!!

Be advised though, battery work on the BEAST is a pain and best done with a helper.

    1. Like many have said, the tires and wheels are garbage. I didn't even attempt to put them on, I ordered a set of Marathon 10" tires when I ordered the generator. 2. Documentation is lacking. You'll notice that it says to remove some shipping braces, mine did not have the braces as others have stated. Also as you can see from my pictures they have recently upgraded components on the unit. If you follow the instructions to start the generator using propane, it says to press the purge button 3 to 5 times. What is not stated is that the new regulator does not have a purge valve. In order to start the generator using propane with no purge valve, you must close the choke. Once the generator has started, open the choke.

Other than those two things, it's a great generator and I'd recommend it.

Disclaimer: i have a natural gas AC/furnace which don't pull a lot of amps when on. This is a great buy. Everything in the house can be on, minus the separate water heater we have in our main bathroom. It would still run it, but it isn't necessary during power outages.
2K square ft home. If you're not going to splurge on an installed generator, this is a good set up and it is still portable. Get the generator, add a 50Amp breaker to your panel, run it to an outside power hook up like i have in the picture. 15' cable to the generator away from the house and life is still kinda nice even with no power.
I think i'll get a 100lb propane tank soon. Not too expensive and doesn't take up much space.

Excellent generator for the money. Complete with 50-amp 240V, 20-amp 240V, and 20-amp 120V outlets. Having the ability to run off gasoline or LP is nice.
I installed a 50-amp power inlet outside my home along with 50-amp breaker in my panel with an interlock kit between the breaker and the main breaker. I fired up the generator, plugged it in, and then engaged the breaker which was now feeding the whole home. The generator had no problem running my 4-ton geothermal unit, well, microwave, and any lights I wanted on.
You don't need an expensive permanent generator to power your home. Instead, buy one of these and install the interlock kit on your panel instead of a transfer switch. Simply shut off any breakers that may overload the generator such as an electric water heater or clothes dryer running at the same time as other high current applications.
Also, install a "kickstart" start capacitor on your geothermal unit or air conditioner. This not only allows you to use a smaller generator, it will extend the life of your A/C compressor. A 4-ton A/C unit only uses about 3,000 watts of power continuously, but they can draw up 10 14,000 watts on start up without a "kickstart." With the kickstart installed the startup draw will be under 7,000 watts and the generator will handle it fine.
My only complaint with the unit is with the tires. They are a foam filled rubber tire and I can tell they will not last long. They should be solid.

If you are looking for a "whole house" generator solution this is it, If you want to make it really simple process and CHEAP (compared to generac/other standby generators) You should also purchase a GenerLink transfer switch (if you don't already have one) shown here https://www.amazon.com/GenerLink-Mounted-Transfer-Switch-Protection/dp/B079H11168/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1536642718&sr=8-3&keywords=generlink+transfer+switch&dpID=41d7lJykz2L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch (cheaper through Home Depot)

The transfer switch takes 10 minutes for your POWER COMPANY (no electrician costs) to install for FREE and the GeneraLink comes WITH the cord going from the generator to the transfer switch (usually priced around an extra $180 by itself) You are literally powering your entire house for right around $2k ($1200ish generator + $800ish for GenerLink) with NO LABOR COSTS ADDED, No electrician needed for rewiring, No expensive circuit breaker interlock safety device needed. Most Generac standby generators I researched the installation costs where almost as high as double the price of this one generator.

Word of caution though, because of the weight of this unit the delivery people USUALLY (according to reviews AND my first one came damaged) damage them in shipping as they are not packed well at all for this weight (just a cardboard box) so INSPECT IT thoroughly before accepting delivery. Amazon was great though about shipping a different one if it happens.

For the numerous IDIOTS on here who complain about "the tires get flat spots" ANY other generator currently on the market with the same specifications WILL COST you at least 30% more, so take that $300-$500 savings and buy you a set of $40 tires from Tractor Supply and step down off that pedestal you've put yourself on with expectations of the Mercedes at the Kia price. As someone who had a previous generator stolen, I make sure to take 2 minutes and REMOVE (easier to steal the generator) wheels and reattach when needed, this ensures it will require more than 1 person to steal it do to it's heavy weight AND THEN IT DOESN'T CAUSE FLAT SPOTS.

For those in multiple reviews complaining about the INACCURATE propane usage in the description. Any common sense/research on BTU efficiency will show that Propane is NOT as efficient as Gasoline so the description stating twice the runtime on propane vs gas, you can obviously tell is false just from a common sense perspective you don't need to purchase this to figure that out. From what I've seen on actual Propane usage estimation running a whole house is, if you have a 220volt appliance (like central A/C) running the majority of the time, you can expect about 3 hours on a 20# (4 gal) BarBQue Bottle, If you are just mainly running 110volt items you should get about 5-6 hours on the same bottle.

First of all, the delivery crew was solid gold! I was worried about getting one that was damaged in transit, all fears were unfounded. It was delivered by a Pro crew with a drop lift tail gate box truck. Using a pallet dolly they took it to my garage and placed it on a flat wheeled dolly for me. Very happy!
This generator was recommended by the electrician that did the hook up for running the whole house as the "Best Bang for the Buck". He has done many of these hookups and came highly recommended.
The unit fired up the first time no problem, we are using propane, and when we added the house load to it one circuit at a time, this Beast did not even twitch! Whole house AC water heater everything and I was still at 50%. I can run the whole house during an outage.
I am in Tampa Bay Florida, and survived "Irma-Geddon" in 2017 and I can tell you that being without power for days on end gets old real fast.
We started it right up on propane, no problem, it ran smooth and was not really too loud during our test runs. There is a start up procedure that entails pulling the house off of the main, I suggest printing it out in large font and laminating it, and hanging it near the breaker panel so it is on hand as a check list.
This is the newer updated version ELITE instead of beast. It has self purging propane valve, and the exhaust can be attached to a flexi pipe it even has a screw down for this purpose to hold the pipe in place. We rolled it out for the monthly start it up, Hooked the propane up, let it purge, bang fired right up. Ran it for 20 min, no problem.
Take the time to do a full test run before you are in the dark, "know before you go". Get Wavian fuel cans

Wavian USA JC0020RVS Red Authentic NATO Jerry Fuel Can and Spout System (20 Liter)

for gasoline, they do not spill, and have at least four Propane cans on hand to get you going, Propane lasts longer in storage.
Make sure you have a plan in place way before the storm, find a way to shelter the generator from the storm, get a Gen-Tent,

GenTent 10k Running Cover - Universal Kit (Extreme, TanLight) - 3000w-10000w Portable Generators

keep it out of the rain. This is a great unit for the occasional power outage. Hurricane season is upon us, do not be caught out in the dark.

    -----UPDATE-----
We have used this unit several times for power outages in Florida, It works well, but here is an important tip. Sensitive electronics will take a beating from this unit. It is powerful to be sure, but, TV, Computer, Stereo need a smoother power curve to work correctly. To use this with electronic gear use:
a Double-Conversion UPS, Tripp Lite SU1000XLA, SU750XL. This kind of unit isolates you from the inconsistent power of a generator. DO some research and make your own decision.

    -----UPDATE----
I have been starting this unit monthly using the Propane only, not quite 5 hours on it yet. I charged the battery and am ready for Hurricane season here in Florida. I have always used the key starter, but this time I used the pull starter and was surprised how easy it was.
    1.Hook up the propane
    2.Open the valve
    3.Choke on
    4. Give it a couple of pulls before turning on the key
    5. Hit the key bang two tugs it starts.
Much easier than expected, took me by surprise. Take the time to do the full hook up to the house so you are not trying to figure it out during a weather event. Make sure your partner knows what to do as well. This is a good unit to have for sure for those power outages that are so very annoying here in Florida. Also get better wheels as the ones that come with it are foam filled and have a flat spot that makes it tough to roll. 10 in. Haul-Master Pneumatic Tire on White Wheel - 4.10/3.50-4 KNOBBY TREAD, these will do the trick
    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED A+++++

Only ran it a little bit so far but it started right up (after figuring things out as I describe next) and it provided power right away. Docs are a bit confusing for Propane users since manufacturer has improved/modified the product (new regulator) and inserted fliers in the packet to explain usage changes... but the fliers seem inaccurate too. So my main purpose of this review is to help you in case you are buying the latest model and are using Propane. I Called Customer Service (very friendly) and here are the instructions I got for propane startup and use:
1--Generator ships with one lead wire to battery disconnected and you have to connect that first. Obviously won't start otherwise. Manual and fliers didn't mention that and I was confused at first why it wouldn't start.
2--Cust Service said when using Propane to start with and leave Choke in Middle position (contrary to labels and user manual instructions). Seemed to work.
3--When using Propane, leave idle control always in OFF position.
4--Manual talks about using a propane pressure release valve at startup, but that's no longer present or needed with new regulator.
Other things that -were- clear in manual about propane but I might as well mention them for completeness:
1--turn gasoline valve off when using propane
2--put generator main breaker in off position before first starting.
3--turn key to start. If engine doesn't catch after 5 secs, then stop and wait 10 secs, and try again. Mine started on the third cycle of this.
4--Once started let engine run 3-5 minutes before turning breaker on and plugging in devices
4--if a device plugged in doesn't seem to be powered, the GFCI button on the socket on the generator probably needs to be pushed.
5--when done using generator, do the shutdown in this order: unplug devices, turn off main breaker, turn off propane valve on propane tank, let engine die, then turn off key.
    Hope these note help you!

I live about half an hour inland in NE Florida. Def hurricane impact territory.
Have the same typical complaints about the vagerity of the instructions and crappy wheels (REALLY CRAPPY!)
However, I have this genny in a specially (heavily) built shed out by the power pole on my property. It sits within a 4 post isolation frame with the bottom of the unit on a platform 2 feet off the ground. Makes changing the oil a breeze. In the construction of my shed I placed four treated lumber 4x4's (with a platform between) in concrete in the ground and basically built a 12x12' shed around it.
The shed is 80 feet from my house.
In the shed I have 6 100lb propane tanks.
My little 800sf house has never pulled more than 83 amps at once.
I have 2 5000btu window AC's and 1 8000btu unit. A standard over/under 22cf fridge, a small 16cf chest freezer, a washing machine, propane dryer (which only utilizes power to spin the drum and power the ignitor) and the standard assortment of kitchen appliances, radios, surround sounds, computers, TV's, etc.
I fired my genny up 5 different times over 2 days for a total of 5 hours of run time on (non-ethanol) (important for novice genny users!) gasoline. Changed the oil. Wasn't really dirty. Refilled the oil, integrating 1/4 a quart of Lucas oil treatment in this time.
Killed the power from the grid (via a master shut off at the pole)
Switched genny over to propane on one of the 100lb tanks. Fired it up. Had to play with the choke a little bit to get it to run smoothly on no load.
Threw switches to allow power to the house. All major appliances were powered off at their individual power supplies for my test.
Started with first the fridge and freezer. Generator didn't even sound like it cycled up. That's a good thing.
Next began adding window AC's. One 5000, two 5000, then the 8000. Definitely noticed the genny engine ramping up at 2nd AC power up.
Turned off all AC's except the 8000. Walked around the house turning on the most commonly used household items, everything worked fine. The generator is def running at higher RPMS.
I left the system running (off grid) for 46 hours nonstop before the first propane tank ran dry.
So I figure I have roughly 11 days of generator capacity in NE Florida during the hurricane season if I use my entire house power conservatively (Leave on only biggest AC in most common living area)
I've lived here 3 and a half years and experienced Matthew and Irma. (Irma screwed us!!)
    Great peace of mind.

The assembly procedures were painless. After attaching the negative battery terminal, adding oil, and attaching to a propane tank, the generator fired right up. I ran it for about 10 minutes and shut it down. I disconnected my house from city power, plugged the 50amp cord into the house and generator and fired it up. Threw the generator 50 amp breaker and brought the 2200 sq ft house online. I brought online a Lennox central air system, A Pioneer split system a/c, 3 tv's, a new Samsung 21 cu ft refrigerator/freezer, a older upright freezer, 2 computers and a gas driven Rinaii tankless hot water heater, 3 ceiling fans and turned on a new LG clothes dryer. To be fair, there are no incandescent lights in the house. I replaced them all with LED's. The generator never bogged down.
I live in Sarasota, Fl and hope, with several 100lb propane tanks, I can get through any power outages that may come our way.
The Beast lived up to its name.

I purchased this generator with the hopes of powering my entire single unit 2600 square foot South Florida home. I was without power last year in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma for four days. I contracted an electrician to install a transfer switch box and inlet port. I also built up a 6 gauge 50 amp male to male 27 foot power cord. I wanted to go with a male to female but the electrician installed a female inlet so until I change that I went with the aforementioned. At $7.00 a foot at HD my cost with the end connectors was about $265.00.

I connected everything and used gas as the fuel since the specs on the unit indicated that I’d drop from 12K surge power to 10K if I used propane. After turning off the utility power and transferring to the generator, I gradually started turning on the breakers. The connection I was using was the 50 amp connector. After turning them ALL on, I went in my house and test all the appliances. The fridge, two deep freezers and even the stove worked. I then minimized all the appliances to just the fridge and deep freezers and turned on the central air conditioner. I heard the generator lull and surge back up. The air conditioner started right up and worked fine.

I went outside to check the power cord to see if it was warm or hot. It was neither. I’m not by any stretch an electrician so my apologies for not running off a bunch of specifications. What I will do is try and post the specification of my AC unit to give you some kind of idea what I’m powering.

After restoring everything back to utility power I tested the propane fuel option by purging the lines from gasoline and connecting a 100 pound propane tank. I used the supplied propane hose and a six foot extension with a brass coupler and the unit worked just fine. I was told at the propane distributor the the supplied 5 foot hose and the added six foot extension would be as far as I should go with the length of the line. The supplied propane line DOES NOT come with a regulator. Also the connection at the generator end is a 3/8 connection. So if shopping for a line, do not include a regulator.

My unit’s only issue was a wheel that had a pressure indentation causing it to bump when rolling the unit. I contacted the help number and they requested I reply to the email with photographs and an brief explanation of the problem. I did that today so I’ll provide an update as to how that issue is resolved.

The unit comes with two keys located inside a ziplock bag where the owner’s manual is located. I used 10W 30 oil with a little less than a quart. The battery was charged and already connected. There was enough of a charge for me to use the electric start. I’ll provide as much additional information with the photos I think will answer many questions I’ve seen while reviewing this unit. For now, it seem to be working just fine. Again, my apologies for not providing a more “technical” review. I give this unit five stars. It’s got the power and fuel options which allow for long term storage of your propane.

    UPDATE:
    Sunday, May 13, 2018
I’ve just tested the Duromax 12,000 Duel Fuel with my propane set up. I’m using two 100 pound tanks connected with a Mr. Heater 2-tank hook-up kit with tee and 30-inch hose assembly with P.O.L. male ends. I’ve also attached a 6-foot extension on the Duromax supplied 5-foot propane hose.
Prior to attempting to start the unit, I used thread seal on all brass to brass thread connections. I used very slight torque but enough to make sure there were no leaks. I tried one tank at a time shutting off the other to check the pressure. I have a screw on pressure gauge on the in-line system. The first tank checked out fine and maintained its pressure. The second tank pressured up not problem but one the machine stated running the pressure would drop and the generator would cut off. I removed the line connecting the second tank and added more thread seal. I also added some on the end where it connected to the tee assembly. I opened the tank, pressured up not problem and turned the unit on. No loss of pressure and the units are working fine.
I’ve read on a few post that a regulator would be required if you extend the hose from the tanks to the generator. Perhaps the real problem is a leak. If there is a leak somewhere in any of the connections the pressure will drop once the machine is on and the generator will stop running. Hope this info helps.

My Coleman PowerMate 6250 generator has gotten me through over 10 hurricanes but it just isn't big enough to continue in the house I am in now......sooooo, I've moved on up. I researched and scoured and finally decided on this particular unit because it is in the correct power curve for what I need and if I went to the bigger unit the cost doubles. I needed a dedicated 50 amp run as well as a 30 amp, this has both plus a switch to choose the correct power.....it is also dual fuel so it runs on both gasoline and propane.....and it has hookups for both so switch over can be accomplished in a minute. The generator comes shipped with no oil, so you will need at least a quart of SAE 30 weight. It also comes with handles and rear wheels that have to installed. It has rubber pads that sit on the front of the frame. I just propped the generator up in 4X4 blocks to facilitate the installation. I connected the negative cable of the sealed 12 volt battery and filled the 8 gallon fuel tank. Set the choke to closed, turned the fuel valve to open, turned the key and she started right up in less than 3 seconds.....once she got a warmed after 30 seconds, the choke was opened and she ran up to full. I then wanted to see what she would do if I wanted to run propane, so I reached over and shut off the fuel....while the generator was using the fuel up in the carbs bowl, I connected the LP hose to the generator, and then to the LP tank, once the engine sputtered and died, I reached down to where I connected the hose on the generator and pushed the purge button the regulator two or three times.....I then went to the front and again turned the key to start...after 3 seconds, she started right up and ran fine. I flipped the breaker on the panel so the outlets would supply energy and tested all the outlets for proper voltage....everything worked fine and it even has an auto throttle if you don't need it to supply a constant high voltage load. I tested it by running it through the home panel and seeing just what necessities it could handle. For us to be comfortable during extended outages, this unit handled a 4 ton AC with ceiling fans running, LED TVs, 2 computers, assorted lights on in the house, outlets, the clothes washer. If the AC was powered down, it would then power the range for cooking as well as the clothes dryer.....it ran smooth and consistent with no bogging down and no tripped breakers. I am 100% satisfied with this unit and hope it lasts as long as my old standby, which will now be retired to do shop chores. Along with the generator I purchased a 12 foot LP hose with standard 3/8 fitting and a 50 foot 50amp cord for attaching to the house panel via 50 amp input socket. Plus a cover for the generator.......

The only thing is that it needs a lot of gasoline but is as expected for been a big machine. It turns on the whole house even wall ac's. I'm happy that I chose this machine.

Instructions were easy to understand. Hoses fit good. Need to buy a battery and try out the electric start, but the pull start works 1st try everytime for me. Has no problem running what I need it to. Like the fact I can use gas or LP. I do however run the gas dry in it. Last generator had carberator problems. So far she is going strong. Used it for a few days several times this winter. I also start it once a month regardless. Will keep posted on how it holds up over time.

With the Nor'Easter that caught many of us off guard here in the Philadelphia region this past weekend we were without power for 30+ hours. This was the first outage that I've used this generator and love that it is a dual fuel unit. I will only use propane in this thing as I've had issues with gasoline powered generators in the past, especially if you leave fuel in tank too long. I have a big electric-hog house with well, heat pump, deep freeze and two refrigerators (and wife plus four kids who this generator is spoiling but not letting them "rough it" more when the grid goes off-line lol.) The unit performed great even under high loads with only minor occasional lights dimming when a large appliance power cycled. Do I wish I had more power than 12kW? Of course, who doesn't?! But for the price on this unit, the dual fuel capability and the capacity to truly power most, if not all, of a large home for a few days in winter, it's a no brainer. Advice: if you do run this on 20lb propane tanks, stock up and have enough to rotate (goes through one bottle every 4-5 hours). And - spend the money on an electrician wiring up a dedicated outlet and transfer switch so you can use this the right way!

Bought this generator in November 2017. It was put to the test during severe Noreaster in March 2018. When the power went out for 3 days this generator saved us. It power my entire house (2500 sqft) with no problems. Obviously it burns more fuel the more lights and auxiliary things you run. With that said it kept both heating units running and all other kitchen appliances. You certainly can hear it " bog" when the demand is high but it pushes right through with no problems. I ran this on propane and got about 5 hours per 20# tank ( barbeque tank). Eventually the generator will be piped into to my household's propane. I do monthly maintenance runs with it to keep it well oiled and charged up. I also purchased a "gentent" cover which sheltered it in extremely high winds and heavy rains. Both great purchases.

BEAST is best word to describe this generator. Ran mine with propane, wouldnt stay running but it was because i didnt prime the carbuerator correctly, called customer support where they explained to hold the purge valve for 10 sec...3 times before starting, that worked great. I ran my 5BR 4Bath home (Entire home) with this generator for 2 hours with no trouble including...2 full size fridge/freezers, 5 ton a/c & furnace, exterior and interior lighting, TV, internet, etc.I also ran the elect dryer between a/c cycles. Now...before you get too excited, plz note that all of my lighting (entire home) is LED...and my furnace and Air Conditioner is only 2 years old. This generator is the Best Investment Ive made since switching to LED lighting, and seeing how they work together is awesome!

Purchased the XP12000EH to replace my 15 year old Generac Ultrasource 15KW. My setup is outside covered location with wiring run to secondary transfer panel with breakers for 70% of the house. Here is what I used the DuroMax to power during hurricane Matthew.

2 refrigerators, Office den with PC/server/monitor, family room entertainment center, water heater, septic pump, 4 ton ac, and lots of rooms of lights.

I ran it off both gas and propane. I experienced 10-14 hours of run time per 8 gallon fuel tank and 6-8 hours of propane. I know many have gotten more from the propane take and I only used on BBQ size tank before I switched to gas. This tank may or may not have been full.

Pros - Easy assembly, easy to move, electric or pull start, runs like a champ!

Cons - battery drains if not running and the key is left in the on position. Tires are not inflatable and do not seem to support the weight of the generator as mine always have a flat spot even sitting for an hour. I will either reach out to DuroMax or replace with something better.

     Update 12/01/2019:
Many like myself have wondered if you can get this to run on Natural gas. The answer is Yes... with modifications. All you have to buy a after market tri-fuel regulator kit. There are several different brands out their and I think most of them should all work. You don't have to worry about what adapter the kit brings as you don't need it. All you need from the kit is the regulator, valve, and hose. You won't use the included adapter or need to cut the frame at all. Remove the factory propane hose that is connected to the carburetor, and hook up the new tri-fuel regulator to the port on your carburetor where you removed the propane hose. It should work.

UPDATE 09/20/18: I finally got a transfer switch installed on my home and I'm happy to say that this generator ran my entire house including my 3 Ton AC. I have the peace of mind that my family has back up power in case of a power outage.

So far so good. I haven't had the opportunity to put it through a proper load test. I am waiting on the installation of a transfer switch. However I ran it for some time on gasoline and it ran great! I hooked up some large appliances to check it it could handle it and it was no problem for it. My only gripe are the factory tires, they flat out after sitting for some time because they are made of some synthetic material. The factory tires stay flat in the spot they sat on for several hours. So when rolling the generator, their is a flat spot making it difficult to roll. I ended up buying some harbor freight pneumatic tires that were an exact replica of the factory. I added air to them and now it rolls fine without any issues.

Based on our current use we would recommended this generator to everyone. It is very solid generator and meets our needs. We purchased this generator because we live in Florida and do to Hurricanes. For a low cost high powered generator that runs on propane or gas, I think you would be hard pressed to find another that has all the options, key start, and comes with the battery and all the accessories included. A standalone Generac 15KW would have been 9 thousand dollars with the auto transfer switch. You will save thousands and get the same results with this generator.
This is more than enough to run my hole home, and I have 3 freezers, 1 fridge, and many other devices. Granted, my lights in my house are ALL LED now, which helps! But I was able to run three window unit also with four box fans with celling paddle fans, water heater, house water pump all at the same time.
Most of the time I don’t rate or comment. BUT seeing some of these peoples who don’t have a clue what they doing writing comments here.
If you never worked with four-stroke engines. Hire someone else don't blame the generators, do to ignorance of how to ADJUST IT.
Then yes, I saw you needed to hook up the negative ground wire, (all batteries on engines never comes hook up) to the battery so I did that.
(Now this quote from some other people writings) #1 “the unit will start rite up but surges badly on LP. Turning off the auto throttle switch corrects this issue. There is nothing in the manual regarding this switch. Once this was done the engine runs smooth.”#2 Engine revs up then dies down. Pretty annoying.
(YOUR FIX) If you adjust the idle on the carburetor up, you can fix this and the auto throttle will work for LP running. Knowing what to do is key here. And No, you will not find this in the instructions. Again, Hire someone else if you do not know what I am talking about, don't blame the generator.
It is shipped without oil, so it needs 1qt and a half of 5-w30. This is in your instructions, so, why be surprise you don’t have any oil.
I do not recommend the 20gal that’s a full-sized grill propane cylinder. You can only use a little under half a tank before you will have problems with not enough Pressure to run generator. Get a sixty or eighty gallon, will work better and longer. I myself have it on a 250gal tank.
Hope I have cleared up these “People miss understandings of what not to do.

We purchased this before Hurricane Irma because I am no longer able to start our old pull start generator because of a bad back. After assembling the tires, lift bars, and adding oil the DuroMax started with the first turn of the key. We ran it for three days straight while we were out of power and it never missed a beat. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the instructions and owners manual are poor and the tires developed flat spots from sitting in one place. I would buy it again.

I purchased this to replace a Honda Genny for my mom's house. She's getting a bit older and needs something that has electric start, runs on propane because she can't lift 5 gallon gas cans anymore, and she has 2x120 gallon propane tanks that get filled by the local propane company whenever she wants.

Fwiw, you do need to run high pressure LP to the regulator on the unit. It will not run on low pressure (13"wc). I used a Rego Lv3430tr regulator plus a quick disconnect kit to feed it right off the LP tanks. If you have big 120 gallon tanks, you don't have to worry about freezing up issues.

You need to be aware of the hazards associated with hooking up any generator to backfeed your home. Turn off your main power breaker FIRST. Don't electrocute a lineman. IF YOU ARE UNSURE CONSULT A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN. If you are too stupid to heed that advice, don't read any further.

Now that you're using the handy 50amp 220V outlet, I will say this....it can power the whole house. I hooked up ammeters on each leg of her gen feed into the panel. Her new 3 ton central ac pulled 4800 watts on startup (79 Locked rotor amps compressor). The 1/2 horse well pump would draw about 5600 watts kicking on, I attribute that to the fact that well is 200 feet down and 200 feet from the home run on a 10/2 cable. A lot of distance for 10/2. Watt meters are essential for running this on whole home as she can't run the electric dryer, cook an italian meal using three stovetop electric burners and use the AC at the same time on the genny. LOL...especially when your mom is trying to turn everything on at the same time. What was most impressive to me, is, 60 hertz, all day long reading the frequency on the 220 legs. What I do wish was included in the panel was an RPM gauge. Semantics though...

For the money, this genny does the same as a 12KW generac or Kohler. It shines compared to cost. It also shines because even my 72YO mom can move it outside her garage, plug into the propane, flip some switches, connect a cable, and power her house. A standalone Genrace 17KW would have been 7 thousand with the auto transfer switch.

Purchased this on June 1, 2017 and delivered June 21, 2017. It was well packaged with no dents or any problems. Easy to install wheels and handles. Needed this generator because my old one seized in the middle of hurricane Matthew. Got this one anticipating another hurricane for the 2017 season. Thank God I made the purchase because now I'm 2 days after hurricane Irna. I built a generator enclosure from a suncast shed and added vents and attic fan. The generator is working flawlessly. I had an electrician hook up a transfer switch to my house and it runs everything. I try not to run the AC so I can save fuel. Manuel says 10 hours of run time at 50% load. I turn off the pool pump and water heater and use the 220's separately. I don't run the pool pump, water heater and ac at the same time. The only issue I had was with my generator enclosure that caused it to run hot. I just opened to doors and it ran fine. I'm 2 days after hurricane Irma and I'm not sure when the lights will be back on. Last year almost a week with no electricity and I lost food in freezer and the inconvenience of having no electricity. Very happy I made the purchase.
An update: We've been without power now for 5 days and this generator came through like a champ! Thank God power is back on but the Duramax made the power outage bearable. I had cable tv, hot water, small microwave and just about everything I would ordinarily have. Glad I made the purchase. Changed my rating from 4 to 5.

It's 8:00 Sunday night, 9/10/2017, and my new DuroMax XP12000EH has been running nonstop since 9:30 this morning. We had a close encounter with Irma yesterday and today here in Florida and, thanks to this generator, we haven't missed a beat. It is powering my 4 Ton A/C(16 SEER) unit, refrigerator, various computers, any and all lights we want to use, the coffee maker and the microwave. I did cut the A/C off for about 1/2 hour to recharge the electric water heater (didn't want to push my luck). After 7 1/2 hours, I thought I should refill the tank before a new band came through. Imagine my surprise when the 5 gallon gas can turned out to be just a little to much to put in. I can't believe that I ran everything on less than 1 gallon an hour!!!

I originally purchased this because it ran on propane and had no intention of every putting gasoline into it. But the storm came up faster than the gas company could install a couple of 120 gallon tanks. I did try it first on propane and, to my amazement, it started up on the first turn of the key. Same thing when I filled it with gas. I modified my garbage can alcove outside the garage (added a home-made insulated exhaust pipe, put in a 16 x 16 vent, and bolted an old 12 fan to the underside of a sloped hinged cover (just lifts up for access.) I started it up and it ran outside in the enclosure all day. The remote thermometer never went above 90 degrees.

All in all I have absolutely no complaints. I should mention that the lights dim when the A/C kicks on but, from what I've been able to discern from all my internet searches, this isn't really a problem. Given that the fuel consumption of most standby units is 2x to 3x what the DuroMax is, I plan on using this for the foreseeable future.

    -Update 8/1/2020-
We have now used this generator for just about two years to power our 1.5hp 520ft deep water well. Our property (working on it to be a homestead) does not have electricity, so our only option was to use a generator to power our well. Solar well pumps are ok if the well is shallow, but we wanted a deep well and honestly spent most of our money on the well so the generator was the more affordable option when compared to a solar option. This generator does wonderful to power our well, we’ve run it for up to 8hours a day using the well to fill an above ground pool, a water tank on a trailer we use, and other power tools etc. as long as you do on time maintenance and use good fuel (ethanol free), replace the spark plug occasionally, I think we can make this genny last us a good while. Very pleased.

The only con is this genny can be loud when compared to other units, but you can’t beat it for roughly $1000... I know other brands might be quieter by a few decibels, they are either double or triple in price. This one is priced well and performs well.

    -Update 8/12/2019-
This bad boy still runs great and is used nearly everyday for about 10-20min at a time, with a few days of more heavy use of 6+hours when using certain power tools. Good genny for the price and so far so good.

    -Update 4/9/2018-

I finally got my generator back from Northern Tool. It turns out the governor was out of whack, cylinders and a spring needed retuning. $25 total repair costs. Now why was it so difficult for Duromax tech support to even identify such a simple problem from the beginning? Generator now runs fine and is back to normal operation. Raising my review back to 4 stars ONLY FOR THE PRODUCT. Duromax tech support was horrible. 20+ minute wait every time I call, direct extensions for the support techs only leads to their voicemails and they never ever called me back. I spoke to the same two peopleevery time, leading me to believe they have a two man show for customer service.

Also be aware, I called 3 small engine shops to have them take a look at this generator, all of then turned me down because they didn't work on and couldn't acquire parts for small Japanese generator engines (which this Duromax generator has). Northern Tool was even skeptical of accepting the generator but took it after I asked repeatedly. So be aware you may not be able to find help incase this generator breaks on you.

    Update 3/19/2018-

So I ran into quite the problem with this generator. About 3 months ago, I started noticing the generator was running much louder than usual. Considerably louder than usual. After further inspecting, online searches etc my brother and I came to the conclusion that the generator was and still is revving itself to run at 110%.. as in, it's trying to overwork itself without any need to do so. After further troubleshooting.. We noticed a small (but developing) leak from the cylinder head... which is not good. I am an intermediate mechanic and am familiar with standard generator use.. changing the oil every 20hrs (per manual), cleaning the air filter regularly, using non-ethanol fuel, etc.

We reached out to customer service @ Duromax.. they were difficult to get a hold of by phone (always a 20min hold time every single time we call) and very slow to respond to emails. We provided video and photos of the generator acting up and they eventually (2 weeks after initially opening the ticket) sent us a replacement relay which they believed had failed. Upon going to install it, it was the wrong part... it was much smaller than the existing relay. Called customer support again, left voicemails and emails for the reps, finally got a hold of them and they needed photo proof that the part was wrong. I provided the proof.. they realized the factory switched parts on them without notifying them, so another week later they finally sent me a whole replacement panel for the generator because they couldn't track down just the relay. I don't mind extra parts so long as my problem is resolved.. I installed the new panel and it seemed to be fine. But the generator was still noticeably loud. We continued to use it and have once again reached out to them in early March to get this same problem addressed again because we noticed the exhaust was glowing red at night after only 15min of use, with nothing plugged in. So this again meant the generator had a failing system such as a voltage regulator or relay or whatever mechanism keeps track of power output. For a week now I am yet again struggling to get in contact with the representative assigned to my ticket. In the past I have made it repeatedly clear to the tech support that this generator currently powers our new deep water well... without it we can't get water. But my calls for help continue to fall on deaf ears. I've spoken to multiple reps at the support office but they all transfer me back to the same tech guy that has been assigned to my ticket..

This is just ridiculous. I am beyond upset that it is so difficult to get simple support for a problem that should have been resolved 3 months ago. I will update this review after I hear from them, but until then, I have lowered my review of this generator from my initial five stars to one star. A good quality product and customer support are two aspects that Duromax should focus on but have failed to do so.

    -Original review-

3/5 stars for the generator's instruction manual
4/5 stars for the included accessories (wheels, bolts, pins)
    5/5 stars for the generator

Bought 26 acres in East Texas and am now living out here full time to turn it into a working homestead farm, we are completely off-grid. We use this generator to power our 12x24ft cabin wonderfully -- a small fridge, A/C, computer, tv, phone chargers and other accessories. There are some things you should know about this generator, pros and cons so to speak:

    Pros:
-Fuel efficient (lasts about 10hrs on a full tank at half-wattage usage)
-Large capacity fuel tank (close to 10 gallons, I use 89octane and it works well)
-Power is fairly steady, does not fluctuate, but we still use a surge protector on our expensive electronic equipment (fridge, computer and tv)
-Good engine (runs good, no issues so far and it doesn't use much oil)
-Electric start with key, also has manual rope start (electric start is awesome, especially on days when you are sore from work the previous day. The electric start on this genny works well, and is a key start. You get two keys, and so I like to leave one in the genny and one on my own key ring)

    Cons:
-Heavy (this thing is a beast, both literally and it's also written on the generator's top cover. This weighs in over 250lbs, requiring two people to lift it if it needs to be lifted, and if one person is to move it on wheels it can be difficult for smaller size folks.)
-Loud (comparing this to a 2nd generator I have, a smaller 4000watt peak, this generator is slightly louder, but that can be expected because it's twice the size of my 2nd gen)
-Included accessories are absolutely garbage (the wheels are no-flats, meaning they don't have air valves, but they are cheapy tires. if the generator is left in one spot for over a few hours, the tires are "dented" flat and don't reform for hours, which makes it very difficult to move the generator on wheels because the tires are dented -- see pictures. it's absolutely ridiculous.
-The included instruction book is very outdated -- it still refers to the wheels as inflatable with valves, and it has directions that are incomplete and lacking, which will confuse novice generator users that don't have working knowledge of an engine.
-Did I mention this thing is heavy? It's very difficult to move on unleveled land (ie a farm, or in the woods, or mountains). But if you were to just keep it in one place permanently, this generator would be fine for that.

Things you'll need to do once you receive this generator:
-Add engine oil (the genny ships without oil, so have some on hand (it takes close to 2 quarts))
-Connect the negative battery terminal (it ships with it disconnected) (you also may need to charge the battery before you use the generator, as it could be near-dead or dead)
-Add fuel (I use 89octane, 87 would work, but I use 89 in all of my machines and equipment because it tends to run better)

If you're planning on using this generator to power a travel trailer, know that it will work very well for that purpose. We used this with a 33ft 2010 travel trailer that we lived in on our farm for a few months and it worked very well. Powers all of the goodies (ac, microwave, general electric etc) without tripping any breakers or blowing any fuses. Our much smaller generator was not able to run all of the goodies at one time, so it was great to be able to use this generator to power the trailer. You'll just need a few 30amp extension cords so that you can put the generator further away from the trailer, and you'll also need a 30amp female to 15amp male adapter in order to plug the travel trailer into the generator. (there is no 30amp outlet on the generator, which is why you need the adapter). We are now selling our trailer because we need the $$ for other things and have moved into a wood cabin which is more simple and energy efficient for our needs.

Once our home is built, this generator will be converted to a back-up generator for our future solar powered system - we expect it will be sufficient for that use. Overall, I recommend this generator for the price -- just know that the wheels are garbage and will likely need to be replaced if you plan on moving the generator, and that this genny is fairly loud. They claim 68db for loudness, but I think it's much louder than that (I play guitar and have some experience with sound/recording/volume etc) -- not sure where they got 68db from.

So far, I cannot complain about this fantastic generator! Only minor assembly required ( wheels, handles and add 37 oz of 4 stroke motor oil). Followed the directions to the letter, not that there was much to follow. But, it started up great with the propane and just as well with gasoline. It is my recommendation that you use premium gas, as most premium gas has NO ethanol in it to foul up the carb and plugs. It is substantially quieter than my older Coleman 5500 generator. , It has a 457cc, 18 HP engine. 9500watts running with peak of 12000watts peak power. This is more than enough to run my home, and I have 3 freezers, 1 fridge, and many other devices. Granted, my lights in my house are ALL LED now, which helps! I highly recommend this generator, and for the price, it can't be beat!

Love it, from what I read in the reviews I can say pretty much on target. Oil I got the 5w 30w based on one review but it would call for 10w 30w for most climates. (yes one quart and 4-6 oz more) I live in St. Croix USVI where the power goes out often from 30 minutes to 3 days so I needed a high powered beast and she fits the bill. I got tired of borrowing my friends 5500 watt generator and even though it would power the whole house I still needed to turn off some breakers like stove, AC, pool, all non essentials.

Once I got the wheel kit on easier than it looks, and filled with oil I still had no clue on starting it because the instructions are a bit vague, I only want to use propane so I hooked it up. (very easy the hose is NOT in the way of the engine) The key start did not work so with one easy pull it fired right up with full choke on propane. Then yes I saw I needed to hook up the negative ground wire to the battery so I did that, and lo and behold the unit started with the key, funny how that works.

I was blessed enough to already have the meter ready to just plug and Go so I switched off the main power and flipped it to generator mode. I did turn off the pool and stove but wowsers what a difference the fans were all running at full speed, we even tested the AC but never use it and it did not even blink.

For a low cost high powered generator that runs on propane or gas, I think you would be hard pressed to find another that has all the options, key start, and comes with the battery and all accessories included.

It even came with power cord ends to attach, a small tool kit to put it together, even though the tools did not really fit well it was a nice pleasant gesture. The front brackets (feet) were already put together so I just lifted it up slid them in and let it rest while I bolted them down, the rear wheels where a bit trickier since there is not a tool for them but two sets of pliers and they were on.

The only thing I think I would like is a second set of feet that would allow me to rest the unit on so the tires will not warp out. Maybe I will get some. I do not think you will be disappointed in this unit.

This generator works great. I really do love it. It easily puts out 10kw. If used prudently you can power a 200 amp house no problem. I ran a 3 ton HVAC unit on it and it easily handled the surge. It is very easy to use and and assemble (wheels and pull bars). As well the wheels are solid so no worry about flats. The unit is compact (but heavy) and can easily be rolled over uneven terrain. The control board is well marked and well laid out. Instructions are excellent. It is not quiet but for a 12kw unit it is pretty good noise-wise. I have found only two issues: 1) the battery is not easy to access but since this is a rare occurrence I'm OK with that; 2) The exhaust is 1" diameter. This requires finding an adapter if extending the exhaust. Overall this is a well designed and manufactured product. This was an excellent purchase and highly recommended. Note the unit came with all electrical plugs to make the connections except the 50 amp plug (the one I needed). I had to purchase this for about $10 as my local Lowes.

I have researched generators for a couple of years. I decided on the BEAST! I have dual purpose. For full house and RV power. When I received the generator, I followed all instructions to the letter. The generator started easily. I have it hooked up to propane for now. It ran great at testing. We had a power outage that lasted 5 hours one evening. We were able to continue on with our lives as if the power had never gone out.
Our home is approximately 1400 square ft. 3 bedroom 2 bath. We are on all electric except for the furnace. We watched TV, cooked on the electric stove, and were able to run about the house and turn lights on and of with no issues. We are also on a well. The generator has an option that supplies 220 or 240. 240 is needed to run the well pump. The generator ran for the full 5 hours without one hick up.The 5 gal propane tank still feels very full after 5 hours. Very efficient with fuel use. I am very happy with my decision to go with this BEAST! I am confident that this generator will do exactly what I expect it to do.

Great investment as an emergency power supply to sustain your home and family during extended power outages. I direct-connect this to my home's power using an interlock switch. I maintain the battery all year round by connecting a trickle charger to it while stored in my garage.

    UPDATE: Hurricane Irma 2017

As of this report, I am currently using the generator to power my house during Hurricane Irma. I left my central AC, water tank heater, washer/dryer & food disposal and the stove off. It powered every room and appliance in the home. I purchased a stand-up AC unit for this emergency and that generator also powered this unit as well with no issues.

As of this report, it has been continuously running for over six hours.

    SECOND UPDATE
I have now been running this beast for about 35 hours continuous only turning it off to top-off the tank with gasoline and to add more 10W-30 (Full Synthetic) oil. This morning I tested this unit by turning on our central air conditioning - NO ISSUES!! Adding to this, I also hooked up my neighbor's freezer and another neighbor's fridge and a stand-up fan. All while, I am operating lights, fans, appliances in my house! The only things I did not turn on are my washer/dryer, food disposal, water heater, and electric stove and oven. I used my propane grill and microwave for cooking. I also charged my laptops on generator power - but only ensuring that they were plugged into a decent surge protector. I fully understand that I am being reckless on that one, but so far, no issues with our laptops (knock on wood). Also, at this higher load, a full tank gives me about 8 -9 hours of power - but this is just an estimate as I never allowed it to run empty during this timeframe. I believe I ran for 7 hours at high load and it consumed about 5 gallons at that point. Additionally, not sure if it makes a difference but I've been using premium gasoline during this emergency. So far, I am very happy with this unit's performance under real-world conditions and the excellent price-point value. I highly recommend this unit to power your dwelling during prolonged outages.

    THIRD UPDATE:
Total continuous run-time during Hurricane Irma was 77 hours!! Stopping only to top-off the 8.3-gallon tank and to add more 10W-30 oil during the first 24 hours. I believe I even accidentally overfilled that oil reservoir. Not taking any chances during this hurricane, I used full synthetic Royal Purple. Again, this beast was a huge savior for us!! Strongly recommended.

Got the generator this morning. Wheel assembly is kinda cumbersome, and does not match illustration in manual. Handle assembly very easy. Attaching the ground to battery easy, if you use a small ratchet. I added oil and fuel per instructions. The generator started after a couple turns on key switch, it ran for about 5 seconds, I tried again and it finally ran for about a minute and a half. It seems to be starving for gas. This is a refurbished unit. I usually have great luck with refurbed items, because the issue is usually found, and fixed during the rurbishment. Will let you know how customer service handles this.

Shortly after I sent email to customer service via Amazon, the Factory Authorized Outlet customer service reps, sent me a email, saying a tech would be contacting me. I left word to call before 1:00pmCST but they called me at 3:15pmCST. I talked to a rep who asked what the issue was. I told him the above problem. He asked if I had the engine idle button on. I let him know that I tried it both ways. I sent him a link to a video I posted on Youtube for him to take a look at. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joWWqqWVk4E&feature=youtu.be Will follow up with results later.

Great news the generator is running as it should. Per customer service rep Matthew I did not have enough oil in the unit. You have to fill it up to almost over flowing. I am very satisfied with customer service from Amazon and Factory Authorized Outlet. NOTE:The manual actually shows this but it just did not look right. Anyway so far it is running no load for a recommended break in.
Changing my rating to a 4 for the excellent customer service. Will edit if any other issues come up.

The product was delivered n a timely fashon , the box was undamaged. Assembly was a snap. The hardest thing was the battery cables and the easy way was to take the battery out then put the cables on the put the battery back in. Took about 5 min. This way. I put oil in it , gassed it up (used Stabil) turned gas on then pulled the starting rope 3 times hit the starter and it started instantly. The motor noise was about the same as my smaller 8hp Gen that I already owned so not to bad at all. I hooked the Gen. up to a transfer switch put a float charger on the battery an now I'm waiting for my next power out situation . The only thing that I wish they had done to make it a little easier would be to put the choke on the front panel by the start switch instead of on the end under the tank, a little awkward to start. So far I would give this Gen.4 stars I'll know more after my next power outtage . It took everything I wanted it to run on my test. 2 ref. ,1 freezer, air cond.,lights, outlets TV and laptop comp.
